That save game function, though.Thats the whole point in the card game. If you played FFVIII and you used a Squall card, if you lost it and didnt have the cards to get it back...its gone forever.
Also since this is a MMO, there would be a endless amount of cards, even if some are rare there will more than ONE.
If you can't lose your cards then there isn't the challenge and its just a collecting sidegame.
Can't just press the reset button and reload your game to get your card back in FFXIV.
Just have us build points from playing matches, which can be used to buy good cards. This will encourage people more.
I thought I should mention to people of this thread, a Triple Triad indie website existed for a long time (maybe it still does) with people playing the game in flash or something. They had decks for every game made up. The veteran players figured out precise combos of decks that were extremely difficult to beat by how numbers arranged/the cards could be placed down, or decks designed for usage with Same/Plus/Wall rules and etc. The meta reached ridiculous levels and a bunch of the oldest players just had 90%+ win rates and gobbled any newb who showed up. Not many new folks stayed to play as a result. The population dropped from hundreds daily to just being the same dozen people forever and ever, and anyone new was almost instantly discouraged by the extreme reaming they got.
I just hope that sort of pattern doesn't happen in 14 as well.

I don't get how the card game is the only thing people liked enough out of VIII that they put it in near half of the following titles...

Wish they had made a new game like they originally said instead of just reusing an older one.
Go away you negative Nancy. There is nothing wrong with old stuff being reused. See what happened with Street Fighter 3? Now Street Fighter 4 bring back the old favorites while introducing new things that's how it is done.

We've played around with this game at EoFF a lot, challenging each other and so forth. Honestly, the best games were always the games where there was a limit to how high a card you could play. When people start breaking out the supercards the fun is lost. It's insane how far the thinking ahead can go when you play with L1 cards only.
Delighted it's coming back.
doop doop

In game event tournaments would have huge possibilities.
Soken remix please

Hmmm. If they put bosses as part of the collection of cards that will be in the game. I wonder what card would the likes of bosses, such as "Twintania" and the last boss of T9 will be like?

This could be one hell of a time sink if its done correctly...
I wonder how we'll go about finding new cards, or high tier ones. (outside of battling NPC)
