I would honestly be surprised if you're the only one who feels like that, considering the huge number of complaint threads about the Atma drop rate.
I don't think they are the exception. And here's why:
During their 13 hour quest for their atma, my friend was in constant communication with the Free Company and with a couple of friends on Teamspeak. That alone is going to make the time go by fast. Another friend tried to get his atma in a day and got 1 within 7 hours.
Did the second one just get unlucky? No actually.
Here's what happened, he'd do 1 or 2 fates and then go afk and come back and then run one or two fates. He also ran a couple of dungeons and did some other things. In 7 hours he maybe did like 6 Fates. Our friend who got their Atmas in 13 hours was doing 6 fates in a half hour or less. So it has to do more with effort.
Does this mean the drop rate is fine? I dunno, what is fine? That's up for the devs to figure out. Do they intend for it to take 14 hours of nonstop (and I mean really Non-stop) fate grinding? Do they know most will take breaks and space it out? They need to communicate their intention to us. I mean if they expect us to casually run it and get 1-2 Atmas a day with 3-4 hours of work a day. Then it works.
But they also have to ask, "is it fun?" Now that's definitely up for discussion. We've all heard the quote, "The Journey is the Destination." Which means there is something fun to do along the way. I don't believe a grind is fun. I really don't. If I can complete a fate, I can complete 3000 more. Does that mean I should be expected to?
Some people claim that such concerns are coming from people who are "lazy and don't wish to work for a reward." Well no crap.. I don't want to work. I'm here to play a game not work. I work to get paid, I play to have fun (especially when I'm paying for that fun). But on the other hand, playing a game means an effort of progression to win. That effort in itself does not need to be repetitively boring. Repetitively addicting and fun is something different. And thats what probably needs to change about Atma, at least in my opinion.
Whenever a developer creates a reward that requires effort to achieve. They should look at the effort and ensure that it in itself is fun. Idealy it should be fun enough that the reward is just icing on the cake. For example look at the dungeons in Legend of Zelda. You always get a heart container at the end. But you play the game to explore and master the dungeons. The reward at the end is just gravy on top of that. Thats where many mechanics in MMOs seem to lose.
So again I will say this, if I can kill 5 mobs, I can kill 50, I can kill 500, and I can kill 5,000 of them. After gettng 5, I don't need to be tested further. So with that said, I do believe that the Atma Fate grind should be retooled.
As you can see, I'm playing a heavy devil's advocate here![]()
2nd Atma. Wow Lucky guy. xD
Based on the thing that guy is sitting on, I don't think the Atma grind is the only grind happening on the livestream...
