This. The only thing stopping me from leaving Trabia and rerolling on Besaid is the fact that I play with a RL friend who hates rerolling. If I could talk him into it, I would, but there's not a chance.

I'd say Trabia is decent though. A quiet community, but definitely enough people.

I'm on Karnak also but I wouldn't welcome a server merge. It's nice having a small community even if it does mean waiting awhile to get things done. I think since October I have met one person who I didnt get on well with. I would imagine with a server merge it will bring with it server lag, overcrowded zones, camped NM's 24/7. I remember the big server merge of FFXI - Midgard went from being a nice server into a server where you wouldnt want to be anymore and it was just a mess. I am sure things will pick up with the PS3 release on Karnak anyway.

Most of the English speaking people are in two main shells on the server anyway which I am sure you have. If anything it lacks EU players. Gotta find more!

I've honestly never stopped to think what life was like on other servers. I'm happy where I'm in, and never have issues getting stuff done.

Servers lag anyways >_> NMs aren't camped on Selbina from what I see, only Horizon and Ul'dah are "overcrowded."

I guess you log in at the right time then Biggles. I could shout and /t people for hours on end before I can get a 8/8 party before 8pm EST

I think they won't merge less populated servers till ps3 release. Selbina is brimming over with people at times to the point where i'm like "UGH STOP REROLLING ON MY SERVER I'VE BEEN ON SINCE BETA" and i rage. but I can understand why people do it.

I don't think a server merge is needed yet. When the PS3 version is launched SE could either force people to choose the lower populated servers, or give people some sort of incentive for choosing those lower populated servers

They are dead. People on them don't play them because they don't want to start over from scratch to possibly run into the same problem and can't find anyone to do anything with. I know that's why I don't log on personally. Sure, there's 50s, but I'm not one of them, and I don't play MMOs to solo. Therefore there's no motivation for me to even play, which worsens the problem. At this point I'm banking on PS3 user influx to make the game 'fun' again. Or, more importantly, to make the game multiplayer for me.

Just to throw my two cents out there, I wouldn't be against a server merge under the following conditions:

Coming from Gysahl (An apparently heavily JP-populated server when all I wanted is some Gysahl Greens for my chocobo which has yet to be born), its very difficult to find english speaking players (Is this a problem on all servers or did I just get the short end of the stick?). If SE were to do a server merge, I would greatly appreciate it if they took a look at regional distribution when they combined servers, ie. combine a JP dominant server with an NA/english dominant server.

Also to the concern of a server merge killing the game: Its not like this game makes headlines to anyone except those of us who are dedicated to it. Its not like if SE announced a merge there would be headlines on all major gaming sites "OMG Everyone! FFXIV is merging servers! The game is finished!".
