Let Karnak's voice be heard!!!

Ok well maybe not a merge. How about having the option to switch servers once every 6 months or something? I could get all my friends in Karnak to switch to another server at the same time. Im just thinking off the top of my head here but Karnak needs a boost.

I dont believe we will get server transfers until after the ps3 release so they can try to balance server populations, if they allowed server transfers now everyone would move from the lower population servers to the medium and high population ones.

It will get to the point where no PS3 players will beable to go to the large population servers, if SE turn the game around.

If they allow server transfer, everyone will move to Besaid or Lindblum and those small servers will die

IMO I do think a server merge would be best. They created too many servers to begin with because they released the game waaaay too early. People have quit, don't want to play anymore or hate the new changes. Leaving Karnak and other low population servers a mess. I don't think anyone would miss one tiny server.

I would probably very much like this idea. I ended up on Kashuan, as I played on Kujata back in XI, and a lot of the players from Kujata ended up starting there, due to it being the first (and at the time, only) server beginning with a K. Now, as has been pointed out, everybody's gone, and there are very few people on the server to actually do stuff with. I'm finding it impossible to get groups for anything, and have considered more than once starting over to a medium-high population server (the downside to this, obviously, being that when all the people I started the game with come back, I'd be on a different server).

I know it's hard to do any kind of server balancing with the special case that is FFXIV right now, but something to help out the lower population servers would certainly be nice. I suppose it's a good sign, but the lack of people to do stuff with is now the biggest reason I don't play too incredibly often. Haha

Unfortunately you can't do a server merger without father tarnishing the title.

Server merger = game is dying/dead.

It would basically be like putting a hose in the mouth of someone who is already drowning. Alot less likely to turn around the game if everyone thinks it is over.

No it wouldn't. Most people I talk to think the game is already dead anyways and those who are interested already bought the game on release (so no new profit from them) or are tracking the patch notes.

Meanwhile, we have people who can't even enjoy new content because they made, what, 14 servers and then kept them that way after the game flopped?

Maybe they can open up more servers again after 1.20, but for now we really do need a server merge on the low/medium population servers :S

EDIT: Oh, and it's especially bad for crafters since they have to pay a ton for mats or go farm them themselves, or go for crystals.

I was on Rabanastre first, played for about a week, it felt really empty compared to other MMOs. So I said "screw it" and moved to Selbina. Pretty happy.

SuzakuCMX, I agree 100%. If I hadn't started on my server with a bunch of friends and old Kujatans (all of whom are now waiting to come back to the game), I would have done the same thing.
