SE said personal housing was coming out in 2.38 and cost around 800k per house and you can garden. If you want to wait a month or so when it comes out the prices will be much lower because anyone with 800k can have a garden at that point.

Long overdue? Seriously it has been a few days either pay ridiculous prices orwait a couple weeks it not a hard concept. Currently you need an FC to obtain the fruit and many/most FC will be using for themselves so very few on open market. Once these people have their colored chicken prices will drop dramatically.
Haha oh man am I ever glad I bought mine yesterday for 7-13k a pop before this became a problem. I was worried I paid too much but now I'm laughin and my chocobo is the color I wanted it to be.
This. It's what my FC does, we take turns purchasing seeds and supplying the grade 3 shroud soil, and all fruit that the seeds bear goes into the company chest for everyone to use, the way my FC is setup, the only people I don't allow to have access to stuff openly are initiate ranked people, and I fix that after a month of them being active in the company, just so that new people can't come in, snag supplies out of our coffer and then leave (It's happened, several times) all members and higher have nearly full access to the garden and chest though.
They were 5-10k a fruit last night, then jumped up to 30k-50k, back down to 20kish now. Give it a day or two and prices will drop, they're pretty easy to grow.
It's a new system. It's glamour. They not going to exactly be cheap.
MANTASTIC: I got 1017 problems, but playing FFXIV ain't one.
Llyren: Lala Tanks hit point density levels attract small planets
This is why I think SE should make it so there's a maximum price wall for charging for items, depending on what the item is.
Booo big business!!
Save me, guv'ment, save me!
It's not fair, he has something I don't, wahh! It's not fair! The 1%! Wahh!
Oh. Occupy dumb street flashbacks, my bad.
There's either a lot of troll in this post or a really big tinfoil hat. I can't decide which.Really... This situation is borderline ridiculous. 70~100k for ONE fruit? C'mon. It's pretty clear what's happening here. ppl are treating the fruits as a "luxury market" for builders of the realm and rich people in general, who can afford to pay exorbitant ammounts of gil to dye their chocobos.
FCs are together in some sort of informal CARTEL where they will drive prices up because there is a small part of the population who doesn't know what to do with their fat stash of gil and seems to be enough to drain the current production of fruits. So fruit-producers are lining up their pockets with PHAT GILZ while catering to the 1%.
This is absurd. Someone has to start the undercut war on this. The market board cannot be filled by selfish capitalists who only care about draining as much gil as possible from the rich. THE NEW FEATURE WASN'T MEANT JUST FOR THE 1%
UNDERCUT WARS
NOW
Seriously though, we just got the update 3 days ago. New items are always in demand, and in some cases they create a demand for old items; see: shroud soil, which was 1500g before this update and now is 20k+. Mix in the fact that the chocobo colors are something that is very trial and error. Most people have a specific idea about what color they want, but how to get there is a bit of a mystery right now so the items are doubly in demand.
It sort of annoys me when people accuse the sellers of being greedy when ultimately it's buyers that set the price. The price can only go as high as someone is willing to pay for the item. In my opinion, it's greedy to ask me to sell things for less than what the market supports. Why should I sell it to you for 10k when someone else will pay 100k?
Gil is not hard to make in this game in the slightest. My FC managed to afford a medium house with only 4-5 people actively pooling gil. Both of our beds were dedicated to Glazenuts when this update hit, but today we planted a full bed of dyes. They will probably end up being split equally between being sold for FC funds and allowing FC members to dye their own burds. Personally I'd rather sell them all while the price is high, but understandably some people want to do the content and aren't so much worried about earning the gil from the update. :3
