Any chance the Odin FATE might become a *little* less of a nightmare?

I never really realized just how much of a nightmare this FATE was until I hit 50. Frankly, Odin and the Hunts are kind of panic-inducing, and given Odin's exceptionally-long respawn, coupled with the unpredictability of said spawn, and throwing in the added issue of players being able to kill him quite quickly now, just leads to what seems to be an impossible situation.

For example, the other day I was in the Shroud when he spawned. Since nobody would say where he was, I had to port to several locations before finding him. By the time I actually made my way there, he'd already been killed. Keeping in mind, that was me *already being alerted* to him spawning, and I still couldn't make it. What chance does someone have if they aren't already there at the exact moment of his spawn?

Now, I'm not suggesting anything specific. I'm just saying, this *kind of* seems like an issue. And who knows, maybe it isn't to most players; it just feels that way to me. But even if it is, there are a number of ways it could be handled. I like the unpredictability of when and where he might spawn, but maybe give just *some* kind of idea to players. Like, "he will always spawn over the weekend, in addition to his otherwise-random pattern". Or maybe he'll always spawn somewhere between 6pm-10pm, but the given time and day remains random.

As it stands now, I sort of feel like I have to carry a laptop around and always been logged into the game, and always checking, and when I don't, I have to really ask around if he *did* spawn, and if so, give up the hunt for at least a couple of days.

In doing so, though, maybe add another couple of rewards to use the Odin's Mantles on? I can't imagine the patience (or sheer luck) for those who've already collected his rewards, so perhaps could actually attain Sleipnir (sp?) itself, instead of just the Chocobo Barding?

Do you know what level Odin was when he spawned? His level fluctuates between 50 and 60. He gains 1 level when his fate is completed and loses a level when his fate is failed. I know that a lot of players have been ignoring him so it is quite possible that he dropped closed to 50 and a small group killed him.

There is no reason to change Odin. The one and only issue has been fixed and that was load prioritization. The rewards from Odin and Behemoth are far from spectacular and it is content clearly designed to participate in passing. Not sire around for 24-72hours and watch the weather.

If you want to be alerted quickly to his presence, form a LS. I made a LS and I put some damn hard work into it and because of that I had hundreds of other people interested in joining which helped me. Contribution on Odin is more about party composition and enmity generation. I create a PF with 2 tanks, 2 healers, 4 free. ilvl75+ and tell any tanks to join to get into their tanking stance. It's almost guaranteed gold. If I fail to get gold it's either because of a small party or not getting there in time.

I would offer you the most obvious advice, which is to join a LS, but to be honest i'm legitimately unsure if this is a troll post or not. I don't think i've ever heard of something so far from being an 'issue' in this game. Odin is fine.

Lol I'm on PS3 and I manage Odin. Now, A and S rank hunts could use some adjustment, but I think Odin and Behemoth are just fine. I agree this the other posts. Make a linkshell or join one, also when Odin is up look in the party finder, people tend to make fate parties that say Odin and the area he is in when the fate pops, its really not that difficult.

Not gonna lie, I've never even heard of a "linkshell" until this thread, so that certainly sounds like it could be useful. Even still, just given the sheer randomness of his spawn-time seems like it would be practically impossible to kill him, unless you had entire weeks free to do nothing but wait around on his spawn. Unless he spawns in the 4pm-or-later window, it feels like a pretty extreme game of chance to log in and wait around the Shroud every moment of the day, every single day, until you kill him. And that's hoping you even get Gold, which sounds to be basically impossible unless you're a Tank...

Meh. I'm in maybe four or five linkshells(can't remember exact amount atm). None of them are dedicated to calling out when or where odin spawns, but most of them do it anyway. For example my lalashell and extreme primal LS both sometimes call him... just because, I guess. Just shout in MD for a semi-large social LS or whatever and you'll be fine.

Odin really isn't an issue. He also gets tougher or easier depending on if he's killed during his last spawn. So sometimes it'll take longer to kill him which gives you more time to get to him.

Getting gold is far, far easier than it was at launch - just find a full party, make sure everyone's doing what they can to generate max contribution (heals just spam heals like there's no tomorrow), and you'll be golden (pardon the pun).

It's not as bad as you think. The problem is that you're looking at it from a solo perspective, as if you have to get it done now and get it done by yourself. Don't do this. Don't wait for him.

Ask around to join an Odin/Behemoth linkshell. When someone sees Odin weather in the Shroud, they will announce it on the linkshell. If you then want to be helpful, travel to any zone on the Shroud and start looking around. And actually, Odin has several specific spawn locations in each zone, so it's not completely random. At the same time, you can be forming a party with people from the linkshell. When someone finds Odin, they announce the location and everyone goes there. If you haven't made a party by then, either shout for one or form your own. After that, it's simply a matter of doing as much hate generation as you can against Odin.

I've been doing this pretty much since I hit 50, and now I don't even need to go anymore (but sometimes I do for fun).

You managed to hit level 50 without ever joining a linkshell...?
