Someone posted here that Currant Purple + 2 pears = Soot Black, so I gave it a try on my Currantly(HUE) Purple Chocobo, and it became Soot Black.

Time to head off to bed and I'll update tomorrow again if there is more info
Tried to get Lotus Pink with your sheet. First i fed Plums and got Cream Yellow-->Sylph Green ---> Snow White (nearly like your sheet). Then i fed Berries but didn't get lotus pink. Got Celeste Green. Fed him a pineapple now, to look if i can go back to white. Maybe celest Green is a step between snow white and lotus pink or after lotus pink. We'll see in some hours

Hello !
Here's my feeling about the internal mechanics of this color changing puzzle !
I have the feeling that there's a little RNG in the variation, but i think, there's an internal RGB color and each fruit change this internal color.
The "new feather" message proc when the nearest color from your "internal" color change.
"Nearest" being the gap for each R, G and B between internal color and each possible color, sum them and choose the color with the minium value
Exemple :
For this, let's assume no RNG in the process and say O'Ghomoro Berrys change color like this : R-7 G-7 B+5
- 216-175-080 : Desert Yellow <= +1 berry
- 209-168-085 : Desert Yellow is still the nearest color with a sum gap of 19 (R7-G7-B5) <= +1 berry
- 202-161-090 : Cork Brown is the new nearest color with a gap of 38 (like desert yellow) < the "New Feather" message appear <= +1 berry
- 195-154-095 : UI Brown is the new nearest color with a gap of 30 (R17-G3-B10) < the "New Feather" message appear
etc...
With each color caped by 0 and 255.
The funny thing is if you go all out on berries, the internal color cap at 0-0-255 (pure blue) and the nearest color is Royal Blue with a gap of 235 ! (which test seems to prove right)
This is just an exemple of what I believe is happining server side. But SE loves his RNG and this where everything becomes dark !
My gut feeling is one berry can be something between that :
R (-4 < x < -7)
G (-4 < x < -7)
B (+4 < x < +7)
The best "constant value" i've found that work with most of the test (but not all) for the Berries is R-7 G-7 B+5
What do you think ?

To go from Snow White to Lotus Pink, it should be Valfruit that you are feeding your chocobo. This will -G and +R and +B. From Snow White at 226 221 205 and Lotus Pink at 254 202 244, you need to reduce your G while increasing R and B, sol Valfruit would be the correct choice.Tried to get Lotus Pink with your sheet. I just fed my currant purple chocobo 2 pears and got the growth message after each- really hoping to hit soot black also... will know in 5 1/2 hours ; ;
Nope haha went to Shadow Blue...... Ironically this was the next step after my previous Woad Blue colour that I was aiming for in a chain to Soot Black (Woad Blue > Shadow Blue > Loam Brown > Soot Black), but I had overshot it and ended up with Currant Purple. 2 steps forward, 1 step back it seems![]()

Hi Jayne and all,
Thanks for the hard work and fascinating experiments to isolate the factors for Chocobo Dyeing.![]()
I wanted to request:
When you start getting ideal Color Pathways / Recipes, can you edit your Original Post to summarize the Results and real Color Combinations?
I suspect that's what many forum goers really want to know (if they can't go through all the experiments and data).
Thanks!

I am indeed planning to update the original post at some point today and try to go through and make sure all the new material added to the thread since the last update is included in the OP. I've got more links to various sources of information and such to add as well. I'm also in the process of updating my Google Doc, but I'm doing the updates on a private copy and will copy/paste them when I'm ready to put them up on the public document. The updates to the OP have been pretty slow since I've been busy both in and out of game this week, I apologize for that. So please bear with me a little longer and I'll update the OP as soon as possible!
