After receiving so much input HERE. The RNG factor is pretty damn obvious. RNG causes you to; skip a step or two ahead, get a bust, land you on an 'uncommon' colour for that particular fruit.

It seems like most of the single-fruit-feeding results are becoming quite clear. Still, not every colour + fruit is mapped. By that I mean, colour x + all the results of the 6 fruits. For now, I'll just keep gathering the info and putting it into my sheet. Anyone who can make something more readable, or maybe even come up with a proper conclusion, feel free to use my sheet.

I think matters are further complicated by necessary anomalies in the "grid snap" system that chooses which dye range you've fallen into and the way the game shifts values after you've hit what should be 255 or 0. Look at, for instance, the progression from Desert Yellow to Blood Red using nothing but apples (theorized to be +R -G -B). That first step makes sense, but then what in the seven hells is going on with the rest of that?

Little update on me. My Old Post with all of my experimentation recorded.

I successfully got back to Rolanberry Red using the established apples > berries route. I fed pears once there and I expect to hit Russet Brown in about 1 1/2 hrs. From Russet Brown I will fed Berries, perhaps landing on Grape Purple, making that a step shorter if I do. After that step, Apples will be next, some time late tonight. Wine Red has GB numbers lower than soot black so it's probably going to be rough to land on.

Hmmm, in that case, I'll watch your progress closely but experiment with a less conventional attempted route to Wine. Berries from Blood to Dalamud, but then pears out of Dalamud. If there's not some Square Enix number voodoo like with the apple path, I'm thinking that'll lead to a stable Rust Red-ish area, and, if so, I might be able to berry out of that back into Wine territory ... again, assuming no number voodoo. Preparing myself for soulcrushing disappointment this time, however - even cautious optimism got me kicked in the rolanberries with how small of a window grape turned out to be.

Yeah.. so I just got hit with major number voodoo, but found Bark Brown. Why I'm on there, I really have no idea.

Pears from Rolanberry Red did NOT take me to Russet Brown. They took me to Regal Purple AGAIN. So I went with pears again.. now I'm on Bark Brown.

Think I'm about to start alternating fruit in the same method I was going to attempt Soot Black with.

Pears from Rolanberry Red did NOT take me to Russet Brown.

It feels as if Regal Purple is a large, stable pit surrounded by slippery inclines to other colors. Moreover, I feel like Rolanberry Red in particular is very small, icy pedestal surrounded by slippery descents (with one, of course, headed right back to the aforementioned regal pit (Hm, Regal Pit is not a terrible band name)). Bark Brown is like feeding valfruit at Blood Red if you go by the raw numbers, which is both confusing and depressing. It also makes me feel a little more like the "blue overload" approach might not just be a safer option, but the only one that hasn't blown up in our face so far ... aside from pretending that we're going for soot black and then yelling "SUCKER" and loading up on apples at the last second. Any idea what you're going to try next?

Well that one apple from Bark Brown last night landed me back on guess what?................... the pit of hell called Regal Purple.

I am at this point too! I have pushed around the colours and just hit upon this section of the map so I will happily experiment with you on possible ways out and paths forward...

I hope you have better luck than I have. They need to amend that nice chart. That big yellow circle labeled Desert Yellow.. make a big purple one called Regal Purple Pit.
