Hopefully I can help corroborate the findings so far, and if something goes horribly awry, hopefully you'll at least be able to help meh fix it!

Notes: This stage is a little strange if one assumes that the raw RGB values are of worth, here. From Pumpkin to Sunset, the green decreases as expected, but the red decreases and the blue increases? From an apple? SE's values must be a little different if this is true. Also, another 12 apples down. Doubt I'll make it from sunset (assuming I get sunset) to blood in just 9 from my first planting. <sad meh>

On my hunt for Ochu amd Hunter green I came across some single feather procs I have not seen listed or atleast not these paths.

On weekend I've finally managed to reach Hunter green on one of my Chocobos with a bit of "detour" (other one went straight to wanted Snow White without a hitch) and I have two of the colours on your list included in the path. I don't have the detailed notes here but if you're interrested I'll grab them once home and update this post tomorrow with detailed steps. Most of those are not even yet included in the coulour diagram here...

NAILED IT. Not only did we nail it, but, in my humble opinion, the final steps to get there lend a lot of support to the main ideas we've had in this thread: Every fruit counts to some degree, RNG is involved, the "New Feathers" message gives you the option of (limited) control, a fruit's effect on one color has an equal(?) and opposite effect on the other two colors, and course correction is a bitch. I'd like to give a very big thank you to everyone here taking the longer, more obnoxious path through the scientific method thread, both for the theory progress and the advice. I hope what input I could provide helps you in return.

I've been trying to feed my Chocobo all kind of fruits all week only to switch between Pumpkin Orange, Sunset Orange and Blood Red over and over... I'm starting to think I may have to feed it multiple fruits at once.

Thanks to everyone, finally obtained the color I wanted : Chocolate Brown! Why this weird color? Simply because my Chocobo's name is "Chocolat" since 1.0 (not a mistake, it's the french word for chocolate)

Here are the steph I followed :
Got to Blood Red by feeding apples, those steps are already known.
Blood Red + O'Ghomoro Berries = Dalamud Red
Dalamud Red + O'Ghomoro Berries = Rolanberry Red
Rolanberry Red + Mamook Pears = Regal Purple
Regal Purple + Mamook Pears = Russet Brown
Russet brown + Xelphatol Apple = Chocolate Brown
