I don't have screenshots since it wasn't my chocobo, but an FC member reports that his very first chocobo feeding ever, which consisted of only Doman Plums to the very first feather proc, yielded Lime Green. I checked his chocobo myself and it is indeed lime green.

I notice your new chart removes the link between Kobold Brown and Wine Red; is that deliberate or just an oversight?

Just some updates on my path seem to have skipped two steps in the green path on a one message feed.

I wanted to offer that I tried a recipe someone gave me that they found online for Soot Black. They said that the individual followed 6 (or maybe 8, I forget) steps to get there. I tried them all at once, feeding each fruit in a batch and then seeing what came out. Did it half hopefully and half as an experiment. I got Turquoise Green. It naturally did not work, but thought I would just throw out there that getting to a specific color all in one go may require some experimentation. However, for anyone who wants Turquoise Green and can grow their own veggies, I got it with this recipe. I do not know if it will work again, this is just how I got to it exactly. Curious if someone else would get the same results, but since its such an expensive recipe to follow I'm not really sure I'd encourage anyone to try.

23 apples, 39 berries, 25 pears and 3 pineapples in that order.

I am now experimenting on my own how to get to Soot Black, so I will let you guys know if I get any hits.

SE's values must be a little different if this is true. Also, another 12 apples down. Doubt I'll make it from sunset (assuming I get sunset) to blood in just 9 from my first planting. <sad meh>

    • [Step 3] Pumpkin Orange to Sunset Orange in 12 Apples
    • [Step 4] Sunset Orange to Blood Red in 11 Apples
    • [Step 5] Blood Red to Dalamud Red in 4 Berries
    • [Step 6] Dalamud Red to Rolanberry Red in 15 Berries
    • [Step 7] Rolanberry Red to Russet Brown in 11 Pears
Total Feedings: 38 Xelphatol Apples, 19 O'Ghomoro Berries, 11 Mamook Pears

    CURRENT PERSONAL NOTES
    Of course
the Twelve are that cruel. Welp, I have no idea what to do here. Time to research a bit. What do you guys think? One round of "decrease the red, increase the green and blue" from Doman Plums? Guy in the R&D chaos thread tried that and ended up charcoal... Hmmm... /facedesk

I would try feeding doman plums. Might go grape purple or wine red, I think. If wine red, then feed mamook pears.

I decided to go the Doman Plum ( + +) route just to feel like I was doing something productive, but I've a feeling it's going to make things worse before they get better. The one person I could find who used plums at Russet Brown (72 39 26) went to Charcoal Gray (65 64 59), but here's hoping for Grape Purple (52 36 54). I'm not very confident, though. If the RGB values are correct, the increase in green is likely to bite me in the ass and indeed give me charcoal. Wine Red (62 17 14) doesn't seem as likely (though, I'd take it). What a kick in the rolanberries, though...

If anybody has a better idea lemme know and I'll pull him out of the stables before the timer's up, lol.

    My results so far

This is my first post. When I started, I didn't know about the color charts, so I just guesses at what to give. I want Soot Black, but since I have to darken it in steps I decided I would like to make it purple first. At the time, I didn't know that you had to do that anyway.
I started by giving equal amounts of O'Ghomoro Berries and Xelphatol Apples. I fed first 1 berry then one apple, continuing in that way until I had fed 6 of each. Unfortunately, I didn't keep track of how many fruit I had given before I got the "growing new feathers" message, but I think it was after the 3rd apple, so that would have been after 3 berries & 3 apples. When My chocobo changed color, it was coral pink.
