Fresh 50 WHM looking for gearing tips

    Hi folks,

I hit level 50 on WHM yesterday. (First job to ever hit 50)

Basically after hitting 50 I did my class quest and suddenly thought to myself: What now?

I ran some fates so that I could up my standing a bit more with Immortal flames as a filler. But seeing as the weekend is coming up and I want to make some good progress:
What are good ways to gear up? I mainly need a new weapon which is most important as it effects my heals the most.

I know nearly nothing about endgame so any advice you guys have is appreciated

Hello and grats on hitting level 50!

Things you can and should start working on:

    * Get yourself a nice FC / linkshell to do content with.
    * Make sure you've done all the job quests and finish the main story.
    * Make sure you have all your relevant subclass abilities (Swiftcast from THM, Eye for an Eye and Virus from ACN).
    * Start working on your relic weapon (meanwhile can use for example a primal weapon from Ifrit or Garuda or GC weapon).
    * Start aiming for item level 90+ combining relic gear (mythology tomes), soldiery gear (soldiery tomes) and CT2 gear (one gear drop per week).
    * After relic quest, progress your way through Coil 1 and extreme primals.

There are different opinions on WHM stat priority, but in general you should aim for as much MND as possible, comfortable amount of PIE (affects your MP) and DET (increaces your healing). Some WHMs like to add crit after those, others prefer spellspeed.

    1. Do hunts to get a full set of myth gear.
    2. Get your relic zenith.
    3. Cap soldiery every week.
    4. Run Syrcus tower and get 2 Scylla drops while rolling on the unidentified allagan tomestone for the Yagrush.
    5. Get your weathered Yagrush week 3 (1300 soldiery) and farm hunts for sands of time to unweather it.
    6. Start buying your weathered daystar set and farm hunts for sands or oils to unweather it.

This kind of depends on how much you value soldiery.

While Yagrush has some really good stats for a White Mage, it will be replaced eventually* and it costs 1300 soldiery (three weeks worth) as well as an Unidentified Allagan Tomestone (one week loot lock from Syrcus Tower). Check out this post and follow the links for each build to get you some endgame gearing ideas. So decision making time! Spend 1300 soldiery and a tomestone for something that will get replaced eventually (reminder: The Yagrush is really good for a white mage still), or spend those 3 weeks worth of soldiery and get 3 accessories and an additional armor piece or Oil of Time** instead of a UAT.

I also suggest reading through the white mage vs scholar "debate" topic in this forum. Although the first four pages is mainly scholar bandwagoning/defaming white mages, it's actually quite interesting to read that entire topic as a whole.
As well as the topic about Questions about a few spells.

Aside from that, you mentioned you have no experience with endgame. I suggest you to spam some Binding Coil of Bahamut (Turn 1-5) for some gear as well as healing experience. Leveling from 1 to 50 as a white mage hardly teaches you anything aside from filling HP bars. Spending some time in the (old) coil of bahamut would double as a learning curve as well as gearing up with some i90 pieces or for potential future classes.

    * Only weapons that would replace it would be the Thyrus Novus (which isn't -that- much better) and the High Allagan Crook
** Oil of Time is used to upgrade soldiery accessories from i100 to i110. Talk to the assistant next to Gerolt (that guy who made you the Thyrus in North Shroud)

Yagrush will be used for a very long time and can help with T9 clear, assuming op pushes that content. It's much faster and easier than the zodiac quest for novus. I suggested getting it ASAP because it is the fastest gear progression, your biggest upgrade, and easier than even farming T5 for how often that content is done anymore. However, if you'd rather work on your relic and use soldiery for other upgrades then that path is very viable as well.
