and thats where you using your environment to los and your healer comes into play, namely a sch for shields so you can cast.
It seems like you're assuming a team thats working together. What happens to solo players that dont have the ability to group up with others and have to run on their own? You know as well as I do that PUG's are not known for their cooperation.
Fair enough
Im just trying to look at this from a single player point of view that has to run with PUG's the majority of the time. The objective of a game should never be to turn players 'off' of a class, it should be to make gameplay fun and balanced. Interrupts on any type of physical damage with cooldowns being the only way to avoid that is not anyones idea of fun.
Scenario:
I'm playing SCH and I'm with my boy, a BLM. As soon as i start Adloing him from behind cover (LoS the enemy), and he begins to have free casts, he will absolutely destroy everything.
If you look at the party list when you join a Frontlines match, its usually full of ranged DPS. Melee DPS just had to be buffed in the recent patch. People complain about a lot of little mechanics in this game, SPRINT consuming tp , Instant- Interrupt, Melee Positional Requirements, HEALERS, crippling CC, CC diminishing returns. It's all about learning how to dance. Its because of these weird idiosyncrasies that the PVP system has its own strange take on positioning that fits with how its own servers and class design work.
@Tsukichu
You're playing with your BLM and attempt what you just said. Your friend is hard CC'd to negate your adloquium, and players then switch to you. We could go back and forth with this all day, but it will always boil down to the casters having to have a higher level of cooperation and probably premade groups to pull anything off. This is not viable for all casual players, and is not even necessary for anyone in the current model *aside* from casters.
To clarify, I understand that currently the game is playable. What im trying to point out is that there are better ways to handle this situation that bring more enjoyment to a wider crowd. Interrupts on any physical damage is a terrible model to run when pushback on damage and classes having certain interrupt/cc spells is an option.
Im open to learning, and am actively working on it. Im not trying to find any excuses, im simply trying to figure out why a pure interrupt model was used in regards to casters instead of the usual pushback/skill interrupt. Its taking a huge step backwards lol.I'm a solo player. Over 400 games in FL, mostly on whm and I rarely have problems staying alive regardless of my party members skill... which is most of the time pretty low. Pug'ing can be quite frustrating at times though, but playing a healer yourself really helps to alleviate some of that. My advice to you would be to stop trying to find excuses and learn how to play your class. It's not that hard.
*edit*
Reading over this post really reminded me of the initial launch of ff14 xD everyone defended it to the death even though it was so bad it had to be shut down and relaunched. I may be wrong, but it seems like history may be repeating itself!

It is no where near or even close to being as bad as it was...I don't see history repeating itself, but this is what you are telling SE to do ~~> Thread: Replace interrupt on physical damage with pushback <~~
People have been responding giving you answers on how to deal with this and you have even been given a scenario. You said in your words * im simply trying to figure out why a pure interrupt model was used in regards to casters instead of the usual pushback/skill interrupt. Its taking a huge step backwards lol. <~~ Even tho other casters have responded to you and told you how things could be dealt with in certain situations you are ignoring it. You say you are open to learning but your responses says otherwise.
Not at all, Hailie. I agree, there are cooldowns and ways to play through the interrupts. But I also realize that these options are bandaids to fix a bad caster pvp model.
This is what things come down to.
- Flat interrupt should be replaced by a pushback. This will be coupled with interrupts being applied to certain abilities had by each class. Combine that with CC, and you have more than enough firepower to take out casters with coordination.
- Currently, there is very little encouragement for the casual player to use casters in pvp. The level of cooperation needed to be good is much higher than any other playstyle. Couple that with the fact that very little cooperation is needed to negate a caster.
This posts basic purpose is to discuss why an interrupt model was chosen, and how we can move it from that to a normal pushback modelI say it can be done, and im overly positive that it would improve quality of life for casters and for pvp in general.
Did you not consider the idea that if this change went forward, the entire team would be summoners and a few healers?
