    DPS with macros

I have been using macros for every single combo.
Is it better to not be using them?

Also, with i95 on average is there a way for me to know if I am doing my full potential?

Play however you want, but I would say it's better to not use macros. I seem to recall reading that skills go off faster if you mash them yourself than using a macro?

it all depends on the job. i would never use macros with my monk, just because the cooldown shortens and you cant effectively take that in consideration. on my BLM, i use a cooldown to go from blizzard3 to fire3, with a few moves between.

an old fc mate macroed all of his DoTs and he was arguably one of the best dps we had

Depends on the macros, if they have wait times in them, you are probably doing subpar damage. If they are GCD moves with off CD abilities "hidden" behind them, or stacked off CD skills, then they can make you more efficient.

Some of the macros I used leveling lancer/dragoon:

With using those macros, I had a hotbar just above status icons with everything on macro, so I had quick access to see which ones were ready for use at any time.

If you are talking about macroing your combos with wait commands that is stupidly huge dps loss. If I am not mistaken the wait command rounds to a whole number. If you had the wait command set at 2.5s(which is already triggering your global late) it will actually do it after 3s.

I only use "DPS Rotation" macros in lowbie dungeons so I can do something else (watch TV) while running them. Cause there isn't much to do aside from spam Fire 1, Blizzard 1, with the occasional Transpose and Thunder 1 x_x

Aside from that, I have Skill Macros to inform other players that I've used them (Virus, E4E, Resurrection) or as a little reminder for refreshing skills such as Shadow Flare. Just remember that once you use another macro before one finishes, it cancels the first one queued.

Tried to do this on my DRG when I just hit 50, gave up for the reason mentioned by JohnMccain, 0.5 sec lost per attack is a big DPS loss and I would say it's closer to 0.7/attack that is lost, meaning that you lose one to two attacks for every 2 combos you do.

Only reason to run combo macro would be when being lazy during low level runs where DPS isn't important and the overgear by level sync makes up for the lost DPS.

Wouldn't recommend it as a MNK, later instances require you to be mixing and matching, silencing boss mobs, stunning mobs in other's, and some of the combo's you need to put out will be slightly different in each instance. I guess the main combo would be a good macro, if you're really that tired of spamming it 3 times, but a good monk always drops what dots he has, as well as any buffs, which means you'll only be using the main combo about 3 times before you have to re-apply those said buffs and dots. As well as the time loss of it being faster doing it yourself stacking up.

tl;Dr You'll need versatility later on which isn't the most ideal place for macro's I personally think for MNK.
