Here to Help: PS4 Hotbar Settings

Hello everyone! Losiria here to help all the fellow PS4 players with setting up their hotbars! This is all to my personal preference, but it will help you navigate the settings if you want to do it another way.
    Warning: This might get technical!

First of all, you'll want to go into Character Configuration in the System menu. Next you'll go to the "Hotbar Settings", and swap to the "Cross" tab. Now this could be a bit confusing. Scroll all the way down, and highlight the option that says "Enable customization for when weapon is sheathed." Then highlight Hotbar 1. Next select "Enable customization for when weapon is drawn." And finally, select Hotbar 2.
What does this do? It allows you to have a different hotbar for in combat and out. I set my basic opener skills on hotbar 1 as well. (Straight Shot, Heavy Shot, Venomous Bite, Raging Strikes as BRD.) When you use the opener skill, your weapon will be drawn and it'll go to hotbar 2, unless it's a cooldown.

What I like to do to prevent hotbar congestion is select a way to tab to hotbar 3 without actually having to swap over to it. So what I did was went to the same "Hotbar Settings" and "Cross" tab and selected the option, "Enable expanded controls with simultaneous L2 and R2".
After that I set "Display with: L2 -> R2" to Hotbar 3 Left, and "Display with: R2 -> L2" as Hotbar 3 Right. So basically what that does is it allows you to get to the left side of your hotbar 3 by holding down L2 then R2, and the right side by holding down R2 and L2.

Thanks for reading and I hope it helps! Experiment for what you like the most, but I just posted it this way since it works for me .
Any questions? Leave them below, and I'll answer them ASAP .

There is a very great guide on this from the PS3 time already. Atleast the initial post. Also you can edit your initial post to go beyond 1000 char limit.

A variation I use is to set them to two different hotbars (I use the left side of 8 and the right side of 4), so that one part can be class specific and the other shared. My hotbar 8 is shared between classes and its left side has stuff like Sprint, Return, and Mount Roulette; while hotbar 4 is class specific and its right side holds additional combat actions that are more situational, freeing up space on my primary hotbar to be focused on my main rotation and buffs.

That's a good idea as well! I might have to try that!
My current setup is having it different per class for job specific cross class actions on the left side of hotbat 3, as well as set up an LB on a class that uses LB, and not have it there for a class that doesn't (Dragoon uses it frequently, Bard doesn't). But I think I'll give yours a try sometime!

You should always have LB somewhere on your bars... Used bard LB more often than I can count... it's situational but it can save a wipe...
