    3* Crafts, Pentamelds, ....

    Hey guys!

So. I kinda hit like a dead end with my crafting melds, i capped craftmanship/control materia on every piece of gear and am completely overmelded, got artisan spectacles but still lack about 20 points of craftmanship and control to even try the 3* recipes.
Yeah, I know I'm quite late starting that, but started crafting pretty late.
Can someone tell me what I did wrong or what I'd have to do to reach those minimums?

    Hi,

    Describe us your gear.

    What is your tool?
iLvL 55 tool is +107 craft +61 control
iLvL 70 tool is +139 craft +78 control
so +32 craft and +17 control difference between the 2. Maybe I am wrong but you tell us about artisan spectacle and not about tool and artisan spectacles are just +3 control more than the ilvl 55 hat fully melded.

I got the i55 tool I got as the lv50 quest reward and currently mostly fail at HQing my class specific items for the i70 tool since i don't have all crafting classes up yet. My craftmanship is 372 and control is 357. One of the two I could push with food, but that still leaves the other one.
When I reached all craftmanship/control melding caps already there is no need for re-melding, right?

Once fully melded you don't need to meld again (except if SE changes gear stats )
Make sure you melded max CP too, this is important too.

Work on your tool you should be fine then, but as you tested you need skills from other crafts to ease in obtaining HQ results.

    3 stars => Craftsmanship: 391 Control: 374
your stats with the ilvl 70 tool :
    craft 372+32 = 404
    control 357+17= 374

    That is the only way

    Okay, thanks!
If that's the only way I know what will be my main goal from now on

Hey guys, I had this big worry today too! I spent about a million getting my goldsmith to (almost!) max melds.
I'm following this guide here (I didn't use the post at the top, but the color coded one, easier for me to understand for some reason lol)

Just to note the visual help I made for me and my FC to distinguish when you start forbidden meld :

Body (HQ AF): 16 Craftsmanship; 5 Control; 0 CP
*Optimum meld option 1: Craftsmanship IV, Control III, Craftsmanship III, Craftsmanship III, Control II
--The above option has less reliance on Tier-4 materia
*Optimum meld option 2: Craftsmanship IV, Craftsmanship IV, Control III, Control II, Craftsmanship II
--The above option has less expensive forbidden melds

Hands (HQ AF): 4 Craftsmanship; 5 Control; 0 CP
Optimum meld: Control III, Craftsmanship II, Control II

Legs (HQ AF): 1 Craftsmanship; 5 Control; 3 CP
Optimum meld: Control III, CP III, Control II, Craftsmanship I

Feet (HQ AF): 1 Craftsmanship; 5 Control; 3 CP
Optimum meld: Control III, CP III, Control II, Craftsmanship I

[NEW] Waist (HQ Dodore Belt): 4 Craftsmanship; 5 Control; 3 CP
Optimum meld: Control III, CP III, Control II, Craftsmanship II
YOLO Meld: Control III, CP III, Craftmanship II, Control I, Control I

[NEW] Neck (HQ Rose Gold Choker): 4 Craftsmanship; 4 Control; 6 CP
Optimum Meld: Control IV, CP III, CP III, Craftsmanship II
Alternative Meld: Control III, CP III, CP III, Craftsmanship II, Control I (your pick which tier-3 materia comes first)

[NEW] Ears (HQ Mosshorn Earrings): 4 Craftsmanship; 4 Control; 6 CP
Optimum Meld: Control IV, CP III, CP III, Craftsmanship II
Alternative Meld: Control III, CP III, CP III, Craftsmanship II, Control I (your pick which tier-3 materia comes first)

Wrists (HQ Militia Wristlets): 4 Craftsmanship; 4 Control; 6 CP
Optimum Meld: Control IV, CP III, CP III, Craftsmanship II
Alternative Meld: Control IV, CP IV, Craftsmanship II, CP II
I used the alternative meld since CP IV materia has literally no use except for this gear slot (or melds onto NQ gear), so it's generally cheaper than any other T4 crafting materia.

Rings (HQ Aetheryte Ring): 4 Craftsmanship; 4 Control; 3 CP
Optimum Meld: Control IV, CP III, Craftsmanship II
Alternative Meld: Control III, CP III, Craftsmanship II, Control I

This is my current meld :

Now I know I have a few materia to add to my accessories, but as far as it goes, I'm not sure putting them on will bring me up to 372? :S Where are people squeezing this in ?

-edit- Messed around more with ffxiv.arilya, putting in the ones i'm missing from there, adding an extra craftsmanship to my offhand, and acquiring my ilvl70 tool will sort it out - will bring up to 404 craft/ 378 control / 352CP(395 with hq boulabaise)
