Content lock out system hinders returning players.

I went on break last January because my college work load was to great to continue playing and I needed to be focussed. I returned a few months ago during summer and I have noticed a major issue for returning players.

Its very very, difficult to get competent groups together for specific old content that locks out new content.

Specifically fights like Thornmarch EX and T5. I feel like I am being punished for not being around when this content was the bleeding edge as no one on my server seems even remotely interested in doing these contents.

Of course they are on DF, but you have better odds of getting struck by lightning than you do of completing certain content on DF. Even removing the restriction of completing Bowl of Embers EX doesn't seem to be making it any easier to form a group for Thornmarch EX. Its just literally ignored.

Which pretty much makes me feel that I am going to completely miss the boat on the The Striking Tree EX as well.

I think you're being harsh on PUGs. Of course not every party is a winning party but common. Based on my attempts they are no worst then 50/50

In pretty much the exact same situation. I can't see what a thread about it is going to achieve for you , however. I'd love to form a static for all the stuff that was hot while I was inactive, but people are just not interested. Would love a mog neck on my Drg, to relieve the strain on my weekly soldiery, but yh, DF is what I'm left with. While it isn't terrible, it is sad to see groups that maybe would clear it if they persist, disband after a few wipes.

You gotta be tackling hard content when it's in fashion in FF. I wanna get titan EX down so bad, but my exp friends look the other way, as if it's a terrible experience they rather not re-live xD. I wanna form a coil 2 static, but nobody even sends a tell when I set a recruitment PF up xD I'll be lucky if I get on to coil 3 before coil 4 comes out....( yh ik theres no coil 4, but w/e comes xD )

Join an FC which is willing to help returning players. The amount of times we still run T5 and primal ex' to get people into SCoB or get a shot at the latest primals for that sole reason is very high. I wouldn't even bother with PUGs for content such as T5. Even most partyfinder setups are doomed to fail.

That's my problem with this system. You have to do things while they are new and if you take a break from the game or fall behind then you are basically stuck outside permanently unless the stars finally align in DF and you can move into current content.

If the population has no interest in helping, the lock out creates an impenetrable wall for new or returning players.

Just don't lock people out at all is what I am asking. Its pointless if it creates a hurtle for otherwise capable players.

I don't understand this part. There are not lockouts except for Second Coil at the moment. Those restrictions will be lifted when the next set of Endgame Raids come about, so that new players aren't left behind)

There's nothing stopping new players from getting together to complete this content, or to get help from Veterans.

You have like half a year in between tiers to do content and get gear.

If you can't bother to do that your prob need a game with a cash shop.

I think he means it in the sense that you can't do SCoB until you've done T5, but there are not a lot of competent T5 groups available at the moment. I just recently unlocked SCoB myself, but only because I was able to get a run with people up on current content.

People are still trying to do T5, but mostly failing.

Your post is also basically a f*** you to any new players. Everyone should have to be in on the game from day 1 or they need a cash shop?
