I could literally buy all my gear with Soldiery and upgrade it all with hunts and I would hardly be worse off. But none of this has anything to do with wanting a piece of gear and having to be screwed by RNG over and over.
There are lots of ways to gear up at the moment. ST, Coil, Mythology, Soldiery, Hunts and crafted gear. I would even go so far as to say the majority of relevant equipment in the game at the moment is token-based or token-associated (i.e. ST gives-->UAT/Oils-->requires soldiery aka tokens).

If you want to only focus on Coil you can do that. But the devs have put in other avenues of progression, and your choice to ignore them is not a flaw in the game. It's simply what you decided to do.

Sound's like you're looking for something similar to diablo III's smart loot system, in which each player gets their own loot pool and the items dropped are related to the players class. Personally i prefer what it is now simply because people would be gearing too fast and it would lead to a smaller comunity as people have no reason to grind content when they have what they want.

The thing with receiving crafting items in the instance to make whatever gear/weapon you're trying to get, is it still involves RNG. I.e. You may get extremely lucky and see your gear drop from instance. Which is what we have now. With asking for crafting mats to drop you'll be hitting your head against your desk a whole lot more. It makes no sense. RNG is still gonna be in play with craft items drops. Now instead of getting your gear in 1 week(I know not likely to happen), you would rather wait 8-10 plus weeks to get all the crafting items to make said piece? And thats being generous in time because with the RNG you're gonna have multiple crafting items for the stuff you don't need anymore of, and none of the ones you do.

I mainly wanted to chime in on this. Monster Hunter does work on a bit on luck but it's not entirely luck based. You always will get something. Also if you cut off a monster's tail, it has a few different items it can drop specific to the tail (if you carve/loot it). Same principal with claws, mane, head, wings, etc etc. Rather than being pure RNG it's more like saying, "If I complete x challenge while fighting y boss, it can drop z loot on top of the other stuff I already get!" It's not a 100% chance that it will be the specific thing you want every time of course but there are also other factors like if you capture it vs killing it, and a bunch of other things that would take me all day to go into.

This isn't accurate either. Everybody gets loot in Monster Hunter. Everyone is freely allowed to carve/loot the monster to get items from it. There is no restriction. Then at the end screen where you're looking at your quest rewards everyone gets loot from that too.

Please note I'm not trying to call you out here, I just really love Monster Hunter and I don't want it getting a bad reputation due to inaccurate information. It's actually a very enjoyable experience and I always recommend it to people. It's like one to four man raid bosses. Lots of fun.

That being said I should probably comment on the loot system in this game so as not to make this whole post unrelated. I am not a big fan of only one person getting loot from the boss in raids but I do get tokens to spend on stuff so it's not a total wash like in some other mmos. No matter what as long as we kill the boss I get something out of it. The amount may have to be lowered/raised over time as they look at how many attempts people have to make before they get an upgrade but they have way more data on that than I do. The RNG may be a bit crappy to one person (often times me) but with the tomes I have guaranteed loot sooner or later. Plus with the hunts I can easily gear up pretty quickly as much as I need to in order to reach current content.

Sorry for being a noob, I just came back after 6 long months of haitus, but everyone is always telling me about this HUNTS, you mean the Grand Company one, the one that gives you Allied Seals? But those armors are just level 70? Plus they have a lock in period for the elite marks for a week, and the daily ones gives you only a max of 36 Seals.

A loot system like that, I think can greatly help. I have seen players in the Wii version of it, farm monsters and never did I find any difficulty finding a good party. If ever you have completed the Armor Set and Weapon for the class you have, you will also always farm that same monster again, because some higher level armors need parts of that monster, therefore making every hunt almost always available for everyone regardless of what level you are.

I think people here will not be able to understand our point, if they have not played the game. They will always think that it is impossible and very time consuming. Trust me there is nothing more time consuming, than running an EX primal over and over again, without even a single drop for your class, and at the end of the day you have nothing, NOW THAT IS A WASTE.

Nothing is a waste also in that game, Parts that you have as extras, can be sold to NPC for coin, which really fetch a very high price that you can use to buy things. You can also save those extra parts, so that you will no longer farm that same monster when you need them in the future. OR you can use them to craft armors for your minion! Some parts can be used to combine with certain items for creating even more potent potions. At the end of the day, even if you have failed to get the part you need, you are left with a whole load of things that you can use in a multitude of ways, Here though, you get 10 tomes after an Ex Trial, a Party disbanding and several hours wasted in finding yet another party and doing the same thing.

I mean how many times did we waited for a good party, and eventually after the quest when either the Tank or the Heals get their item, they go away and the whole team disbands because of that? It is a classic, I tell you.
