[dev1005] Loot drops within a party

The current system where loot drops into a random players list is absurd. The rest of the party can't see the drops to even know if they want them. They are forced to go to the web and look the item up on a fansite such as ffxiv pro. Then if a player decides they wish to take the drop the exchange has to occur in CLOSE proximity or the item pass from 1 loot list to another fails. We have no way to do a /random so I as a linkshell leader am forced to flip a coin in real life to handle disputes. All of this has to happen on the fly while in the heat of battle.

[dev1005] - the log needs to be much more visible for all members of the party to see what dropped.

Simple short term QUICK FIX are to make the color of loot drops in the log much more visible. To have loot drops displayed to ALL party members regardless of proximity to the chest/mob/kill/player. Implement a /random dice roll feature.

Long term fix: create a single Community loot pool for all (rare/ex/non-tradable) gear drops, players can all view the items in this list. Allow each member of the party to /roll on loot in this central loot list. Allow the leader to set a quartermaster option to auto distribute loot.

non "junk" loot should fall into a community loot pool. Where people can examine, and lot for those items.

3 minutes to distribute batraal winnings is also not enough time

the current system random rolls everyone for you
its then up to you to decide if you wanna give it to someone else

    sounds about right to me

people who are serious about gear and time restraints on handing it out should plan ahead for it so it doesnt drop to a player while you bicker about who gets what when it drops

The problem is what if you don't see it drop right away, what if the person who gets the drop DC's, what if the person who gets the drop is an outsider/pickup player in a group run, what if the person who gets the drop gets a phone call and is AFK for a minute or so? What if the person who god forbid wants the drop gets seperated from the party and is unable to get close enough to Lootlist > give to player XYZ.

Also how as a linkshell leader do you keep players motivated in the long run to attend all events if they know damn well they have zero chance at getting anything? You suggest you know ahead of time who is going to get what.

EX: its 3am for a player who wants to go to bed, the group decides to do 1 more run. Ok lets all decide who gets the shiny new body armor from ogre before we enter cus there is not enough time to do this in game. This player then decides to go to bed rather then run the dungeon since you have to decide ahead of time, how on earth can you possibly defend the POS looting system we have now.

Just the addition of a /random text command would solve 90% of my problem right now.

alot of those what ifs are extremely dumb(if you know loots gonna drop to you possibly and you may have to hand it off, you shouldnt be going afk)
and disconects can happen to a whole group too, what if
    what if
    what if
    what if

in all seriousness.....the rare and occasional lost loot due to a dumb what if will happen regardless of the loot system

not filtering it in your chat makes sure you know who gets what(alot of problems solved there)
and from there, whoever is in charge should make sure they know what to do ahead of time from there

The real problem is that Ive yet to get anything.

Fix it so that Grim Lion of Melmond actually gets an item he can use. Ive gone on about 30-40 runs, 5-10 of which have been to Batraal, and only once have I got an item and it was the damn mages shirt I gave to someone else.

Then there is other people who are working on acquiring their 4-5th item.

It makes me want to puke thinking about the time Ive spent in there with absolutely nothing to show for my troubles but repair costs and lost days to grinding a dungeon that doesnt drop enough loot when I could have been working on my other classes.

In all seriousness though, increase the % for items drops a little more maybe? MRD's are having a very tough time actually being useful in this raid, and not allowing them to progress by not getting gear is only working against me more here.

Sure there has been gear drop that others couldnt use, but of course that gear doesnt go to a MRD first, of course you gear up the already overpowered archer class.
im so glad my shell isnt like that
