    Slots cost: yay or nay !?

    Hello again ,

    what do you think about abolishing slot costs (usually ?/12) for accessoires?

    Imo, you will be pleased to have slot cost away, because:

    - you can wear pretty much anything you want, even if you are limited to specific
    kind of slots;
    - we may produce more demand for the markets, gain vs. gain for all of us;
    - you may equip stuff depending on current style of usage;
    - it is all about looks, too ^^

    On the other side, you may take some consequences:

    - like you need much more space in your inventary;
    - more repairs would be needed...

    *looks at slot costs and glares at them till they keel over and scramble off to my character's namesake's realm*

    At least that's what I'd LIKE to do to slot-costs...

    I very much favor the removal of slot costs! Since you need inventory space for every gear piece this is enough penalty for wearing too much jewellery. Atm there simply are gear slots that NEVER are used due to those slot costs.

    Yeah, abolish it or at least make it scale with rank.
    A fixed number for it doesn't make sense.

    It was said a bit back we would see something regarding this in one of the summer patches(by a dev)

    Remove the slot cost and maybe add some ability to toggle the visibility of each individual piece of your bling.

    Yes but not how they are doing it now.

    For an average item for a level, it should have a slot cost of zero. Now if there were better items (like blue, purple, or gold) it would have a higher cost. So using the current system, maybe all normal items have a zero cost however if the item is +1, its slot cost would go up one. If it is +3 its cost would be 3. So in the end, you could have 4 +3 rings, but everything else would have to be normal... or something like that.

    How would that make sense? Why should I use any + Items in that case if I could wear more of the normal items? As far as I understand the stats with + items I would get more out of all normal items then with + items beeing able to wear so many less...

    I would be happy with scaling slot points with level. I like the limit because it allows accessories the potential to be powerful and not just +1 whatever. Of course, right now stats mean jack anyway but once that changes our current accessories will be mighty useful. I'd hate to see them nerfed due to no limit on accessories.

    On a more serious note, character statistical adjustments haven't been implemented yet. This includes the abolishment of physical levels and presumably a simplification of the combat algorithms. If they kill the slot cost, they'll most likely do it then.

    And then there is still the Materia system to shake things up.
