Jobs for retainers

So I've been giving my level 50 PUG retainer some hand-me-downs. I just got a new ilvl 100 piece, and decided to give my ilvl 90 piece to my retainer since that's becoming useful. Unfortunately, I can't, because I had the Melee Armor Set, which is MNK only.

So it got me thinking, why can't they unlock jobs? Maybe give us a new quest chain to help them learn it. Maybe it's your character having to train them!

Then I can give my level 90 gear to her.

Also, why is the relic artifact gear not able to be put into the wardrobe? I don't really want to just junk it as I grow out of it.

Maybe if you can give them your jobstone. But then you can't equip the job.

They are replicas and obtainable everytime you want. the original AF are only obtainable once as quest rewards.

I more want to have my retainer join my GC so I can put that gear on them. Really confused me when I couldn't put the level 25-ish gathering top/bottom on my miner before I realized what was going on.
