So! I got Soot Black. I'll prob post a picture when I get home in a few hours.

I was part of the looper group, and what I did to get out of it was try to eliminate what I knew would be the problem. I thought about how we all fed so many Berries to get it to the lower color spectrum and how blue is probably the culprit. I at first tried Red, because well it made sense with a starting color of Yellow, that Red level would be higher. This didn't work, and the loop continued. I then remembered feeding it many berries and plums (more berries though) which would bring my Blue level higher more then likely, and my Red actually lower then I had previously thought. If you look at the charts, Blue is the lower end of Soot black, and obviously Ink blue has it a bit higher then the rest.

I figured at this point, it was actually Blue that was the culprit. I knew my reds were low as I had tried lowering them to no avail. So then it was time to try and bring up the other two evenly and get my blue under. x2 Pineapples did the trick for this (plume change x2), and now I'm a proud owner!

To those looping, I really don't believe in RNG in this system. Your color levels are probably just tilted in some form. Try to figure out which level of color is higher then the rest, even them out and raise them to Soot Black levels. SE rounds off colors to push you into a color tolerance IMO, and dipping above/below a range in certain numbers most likely pulls you out of certain pigments. Soot black's fairly even numbers probably just exacerbates this.

I really think this rounding is evident in how we are going from Ink Blue > Kobold Brown. The point swing doesn't make sense. I really wonder (especially since I got x2 Plume change messages with x2 pineapple) if I had used a Pineapple at Kobold Brown, if it would have put me at Soot Black. Numerically looking at Kobold Brown it doesn't make sense, but going from Ink Blue > Kobold from x1 Pineapple doesn't either. Something was off in the numbers, and for me it happened to be Blue.

I'll repost this from about 10 pages earlier:

    [ 34, 42, 96] - Royal Blue

And berries stop doing anything after that.
The fruits aren't a direct +r -g -b or anything like that. There's a general trend in the above example towards a deep blue, but the path is not direct by any means at all. It may make more sense in a different color space, but not with additive RGB colors.

    hello !
after 3 days of experimenting (with, i admit, little knowledge about that whole stuff) i got my chocobo from desert yellow to celeste green and then from celeste green to sky blue. i'm actually trying to find turquoise green, and it seems like i don't have any chance of reaching that color from sky blue ... anyone has any advice ? is there a way to make it turquoise from that color or should i just feed him a lemon and try again ? :/

You could feed it a ton of Apples/Pears/Berries in equal quantities to deepen the colors. Celeste Green transitions down to Turquoise almost perfectly. It might take a bunch of fruit though.

Alternatively you could try to repeat how I found Turquoise. From default I fed it 18 Berry procs and 11 Pear procs. I'm sure you could get to Turquoise in less but that's what my initial feeding attempt resulted in.

    Good luck!

Ok still trying to achieve Grape Purple.

My most recent feeding of 8 Apples, 6 Pears and 6 Berries has taken me from Woad Blue to Ink Blue.

If anyone would mind chiming in and telling me the best way to get there I'm all ears.

I know I'm repeating myself but, people should stop counting "proc" messages, it makes absolutely no sense.
It only means your chocobo will change color from what he is currently. First one is somewhat useful, next ones are meaningless.

    Finally!!

I was stuck in the deepwood > ink > kobold loop when I decided to start adding 1 of each lightener every session until I hit a color that wasn't the dark dark ones.

When I hit Kobold Brown again I did 1 plum, 1 valfruit, 1 pineapple, and then another plum. All 4 proc'd and resulted in Marsh Green. From there, I did what someone else had suggested from Marsh Green. They did 2 berries and 1 apple to go to Ink Blue and then from Ink 1 pineapple to black. I combined those both in to one session so from Marsh I went 2 berries, 1 apple, 1 pineapple and got black. I guess 1 berry and 1 pineapple cancel each other out so I'm guessing just 1 berry and 1 apple from Marsh would've worked too.

Either way, so glad this is done with. I was losing my sanity. Thank you to everyone here who has contributed to the discussion and research of Chocotology.

Feed it Fruit to push the magenta hues up (or to remove the green to give you red and blue hues)
and then Berries to drive it purple.
