Hello. I've been following this thread and my experience has contradicted a lot of the assumptions here. I was able to get the colour I wanted by using the following assumptions:

    1) Rather than using the colour chart, use this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...li=1&sle=true#.
    2) Rather than thinking of colours as exact values, consider them as ranges or zones , and the values in this sheet as approximate midpoints for those ranges. Exact matches aren't needed because there is a limited number of colours available for manifestation rather than the full spectrum.
    3) The values on feed are bound by RNG. All fruits alter all three RGB values simultaneously in some way and trying to pinpoint rng for all three is impractical. The behaviour trend of each fruit (Trend, not norm!) is explained in the fruit description.

    4) The "Plumage will change in 6 hours" message appears always on first feed and indicates the start of the timer after which the colour number value change from feed becomes permanent.
The "Chocobo is starting to grow new feathers!" message is indication that you just crossed "ranges" into a new colour. All fruits proc but you need to sculpt and push to a different zone using different quantity and order of feed.
    5) I found it personally much easier to feed one type of fruit at a time and proceed based on the results, since it's easier to tell the general direction the values will take with only one altering factor.

I'd like to know if anyone could corroborate these assumptions since I've found they worked for me the best.
