getting a bit closer i think. that ended up giving me currant purple.

I would do one round of messages for these -- Pineapple, Apple, Pear ( 1 new feather messages for each to lower blue down 10) and then one round of Pear, Berry, Apple

this worked 100% for me and i went from currant purple to soot black. thanks a ton for the advice! much appreciated.

I have a currant purple right now and i'm trying for soot black. You fed your chocobo 1 of each deep fruit? or light fruit?

followed this information: Pineapple (fed these until I saw the "growing new feathers message), 1 Apple, 1 Pear and then 1 Pear, 1 Berry and 1 Apple all in the same sitting. I got the "growing new feathers" message for each fruit after getting it the first time from the pineapple.

good luck with your soot black chocobo. i obviously can't guarantee it will be soot black because there seems to be some RNG but i had currant purple and followed the above steps and hit soot black.

I got Deepwood Green by doing the same combination. So I'm getting close, but getting bad RNG I guess. Thanks for the tip
