Ugh, I give up for now. My bird wont change from honey yellow no matter what I feed him. Only thing I haven't tried is feeding him the one that changes him back to his original color. Just planted that now.

How much did you feed him and did you leave him in the stables for six hours like you're supposed to?

The spreadsheet says: Doman Plum x15, Cieldalaes Pineapple x6, Valfruit x12.

It might work and it might not. I tried the combination from the spreadsheet for slate gray and got plum purple. Either there is some randomness to it, or there is a factor(s) we don't know about.

The spreadsheet is useless. It's not the amount of fruit given but the times it gives you the message it's changing feathers/plumage which is still the unknown factor. Some people got it giving some fruits, others got it with other combinations, some gave dozens of fruits and some just a couple.

Yep, I think you are right. It is the message, not amount. I wish I didn't waste so many berries when I gave my chocobo 21, after getting a yield of 23. Now I have to wait for new ones to grow.

Yeah. I kept him in the entire time. At first I fed him 6 apples and got the feather message, but no change. Then I fed him 9 berries with no feather message, so I gave him 6 more berries and no message. Then I tried 10 pears, no feather message. Then I just kept throwing the darkening fruit at him (probably something like 22 apples, 25 berries and 18 pears) with no message so I decided to wait and see what would happen. No change. Then I fed him 6 plums and got feather message and again, no change.

I absolutely didn't accidentally take him out either. The only thing I can think of is I just really don't understand it, or people came up and stabled their chocobo so it bumped him out of immediate view each time I got the feather changing message. Not sure if that makes sense. So, my chocobo was one of the two visible ones, but then FC members ran up and stabled theirs. Wouldn't think that would ruin it though.
