So many pages to weed through! Every chart or document I have found didn't say how to get to Mesa Red. Anyone have any ideas? Starting from Desert Yellow. Thanks.

Need to darken all around so start by feeding 15 apples, 15 beries and 15 pears, that will get us into the oranges first, not worth upping more fruits from the start.

I managed to break out of that and got marsh green but now after feeding it what I should have to get me soot black it's currant purple!
What should I do? I'm at my wits end.

This should do it:
apple 4
pear 3
plum 2

Please, someone help me out.

Where do I go from if I have a Midnight Blue-chocobo and want a Soot Black? =/

Finally got 1 of my chocobos to the color I wanted...Hunter Green!

Rothano blue confirmed! but not from normal yellow but a colored bird


Regal purple and then feed : 30 berries, 15 apples, 15 peers and had the message "grows new feathers" 36 times.

I'm looking for the easiest way to get Grape/Currant Purple Chocobo can anyone tell me what combination of foods and which color will get the quickest results if known?

I'm not sure if this is the easiest way or not to get currant purple; But for me this worked

1)From regal purple: 3berries, 1 apple, 1 valfruit =abyssal blue
2)From Abyssal blue: 4apples =Rolanberry red
3)From Rolanberry red: 3berries, 6pears, 1plum =Midnight blue
4)Midnight blue: 4pineapples =Currant purple

I haven't helped anyone with chocobo dye in ages and I was going to suggest using the FFXIV Chocobo Colour Calculator by Chopski but it seems it's offline. Chopski if you're still reading any of these threads you should get it working again. It was super helpful!

This means that we're going to have to do some napkin math. It also looks like the original RGB sheet is gone so I'm going to use AttacKat's RGB Colors (again assuming they haven't been changed).

Chocobo Fruit

Plum - Lightens red hues but at the same time increases green and blue hues.
Apple - Deepens red hues but at the same time lessens green and blue hues.

Valfruit - Lightens green hues but at the same time increases red and blue hues.
Pear - Deepens green hues but at the same time lessens red and blue hues.

Pineapple - Lightens blue hues but at the same time increases red and green hues.
Berries - Deepens blue hues but at the same time lessens red and green hues.

Plum (-5, +5, +5)
Apple (+5, -5, -5)
Valfruit (+5, -5, +5)
Pear (-5, +5, -5)
Pineapple (+5, +5, -5)
Berries (-5, -5, +5)

*Note: Using the +/5 integer for easier calculations (this is an approx.).

Starting Colour: Marsh Green
RGB Estimation: 52R, 56G, 34B

Desired Colour: Soot Black
RGB Estimation: 45R, 43G, 36B


Napkin Math
This is based on the +/5 integer for easier calculations. Focus on getting 1 value at a time to the desired colour range (I started with G below which also moved R), then move on to your next value (I focused on bringing the B back down while keeping R/G stable).

2 Berries (-10, -10, +10): 42, 46, 44
1 Apple ( +5, -5, -5): 47, 41, 39 (You could try to stop after the Apple, it might still get you into Soot Black range.)
1 Pear ( -5, +5, -5): 42, 46, 34 <- End RGB Value

You could attempt to stop after 2 Berries + 1 Apple. This feed combo might still trigger Soot Black. The differences between adding 1 pear aren't huge jumps in numbers, approx. 2 -3 points, but I was just trying to do a bit of fine tuning. No guarantee this will break your loop but... for science!

Oh oh! I got it! It's basically RGB color mixing.
Removing red leaves blue and green, which makes cyan.
Removing green leaves blue and red, which makes purple.
Removing blue leaves red and green which makes yellow.

That's what I thought, so I am hoping that removing red and green will give white chocobo.

Wouldn't removing red and green just leave blue? I think you'd have to remove all three for white.

Might be. Too bad I do not have any more seals to buy other seeds, also a lot of people want t grow their dyes too. Well, black is not bad too.

True yellow is green + red. Might need some blue adjustment, I guess. Or might need to add blue to get grey/white. It remains to be seen if it works exactly like RGB.
