So, after wanting to end my life after my berries not taking any effect, I decided to try out the 6 hour window and see what I could do.
I fed an initial 3 berries and waited 3 hours (I took a nap) and now I fed him 27 more berries and 10 pears to get Orthard Blue (fingers crossed).
If the color is correct after this, that means that you can effectively add more fruit any time in the 6 hours window and still get the intended result, however, I failed to try and alter the ordering of the final fruit to see if it had any effect.

Fc mate made got ash grey
6 or 7 darken blue, 3 lighten red, 3 lighten green, 6 darken green

I wanted blue, but I suppose this is good for science.Fc made got ash grey

I also got Ash Grey but with very different feeds: 12 berries > 10 pineapples > 6 berries (18 berries total).
I got "grows new feathers" everytime after the first 3 berries feed.

For those curious. Just to reiterate, I did 10 of each 'lighten'
I'm going for white. So, I've decided to feed it Blues until it gets the 'Begin to grow new feathers!' message. Let's see what happens. I had to give it 4.

Doubtful. Seems pretty clear that multiple fruits are causing large differences (look at 2 apples versus three apples and some berries) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...view?sle=true#
However some fruits are from opposite ends of the spectrum. If you use a fruit that increases blue and another that lightens it you're not going to see much of a change, if any. Plums and Pineapples for example probably won't result in much blue growth if eaten at the same time.
So, based on what has been discovered so far if I put a lot of the "lighten" feed into my chocobo it would result in a Snow White plumage?

I'm shocked we haven't seen more people trying to math this out and posting results on the forums. I'm using values posted into the google doc https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...view?sle=true# without having attempted this at all myself. I wish I knew more about this system (IE how many fruits until it says new feathers are growing) and what order which fruit were given to result in that
We can math this out by representing our colour variables as RGB OR CKMY. Since the Google doc displayed values in RGB, I picked those for my variables.
216R + 175G + 80B = Desert Yellow //Let's represent Various Colours Algebraically
180R + 158G + 130B = Gobbiebag Brown
193R + 109G + 31B = Pumpkin Orange
178R + 85G + 39B = Sunset Orange
Now, let's assign variables to the Fruit, and speculate on their effects
xenophus (X) = ?R
Doman (D) = -?R
Mamook (M) = ?G
Valfruit = -?G
O'ghomoro (O) = ?B
Cieldales (C) = -?B
Now, Take colour changes where only 1 Fruit was used, and isolate the effects of the Fruit.
Desert Yellow + O'Ghomoro Berry x11 = Gobbiebag Brown
216R + 175G + 80B + 11O = 180R + 158G + 130B
36R + 17G + (-50)B + 11O = 0
-11O = 36R + 17G - 50B
11O = 50B - 36R - 17G
O = 4.5B - 3.3R - 1.5G
Desert Yellow + Xelphatol Apple x11 = Pumpkin Orange
216R + 175G + 80B + 11X = 193R + 109G + 31B
23R + 66G + 49B + 11X = 0
-11X = 23R + 66G + 49B
X = -2R -6G -4.5B
Now take these Values, and see if they successfully create another known colour.
Desert Yellow + Xelphatol Apple x22 + O'Ghomoro Berry x3 = Sunset Orange
216R + 175G + 80B + 22X + 3O = 178R + 85G + 39B
216R + 175G + 80B + 22(-2R -6G -4.5B) + 3(4.5B - 3.3R - 1.5G) = 178R + 85G + 39B
216R + 175G + 80B - 44R - 132G - 99B - 9.9R - 4.5G + 13.5B = 178R + 85G + 39B
216R - 44R - 9.9R + 175G - 132G - 4.5G + 80B - 99B + 13.5B = 178R + 85G + 39B
162.1R + 38.5G -5.5B != 178R + 85G + 39B
So, while unsuccessful, I've learned a few things. Either I'm representing the Variables wrong by speculating with RGB, I did my Math wrong, OR, prior conclusions about feeding no longer working after it indicates new feathers are growing is correct. Also, if people are lying about their submissions, all of this data is grossly incorrect.
Another possibility however, is that where I am strictly using addition/subtraction, each fruit could be a multiplicative factor. IE, 1 X = R * 0.95.
Ran out of time, got to go. Hopefully this encourages more math to help us find good answers.

I just wanna say this thread is so much fun! I've just stayed on it all day and kept clicking refresh. XD

Put my bird in for another 6 hours w/5 Apples, not touching this time until the timer is up, I got the message about growing new feathers on the first feed.
