One thing that got me out the loop was feeding mine 2 Pineapples, 2 Valfruit, 1 Plum. Getting a feather message after fedding the second Pineapple/Valfruit and first Plum. I've been cycling from Deepwood green, Kobold Brown, Deepwood green again.

Alright I need some help.
I'm currently at Adamantoise Green: 88 110 81
I got here from Seafog Blue: 93 122 154
My aim is: Sky Blue: 124 171 207
I fed 2 Mamook Pears, 2 Xelphatol Apples, and 1 O'ghomoro Berries to try raise red/green whilst keeping blue, but now I realize that would have kept red/green whilst DROPPING blue... after it already changed.
How should I proceed? D:
SetoKaiba,
I'ld suggest to feed it plums.
Feed till one growing feather message, you "should"( it is possible to skip colors) land on Raptor blue, from there you should feed some more plums until and other growing feather message and it should bring you to sky blue.

Alright, thanks.
The new feathers message procced after the first feed for me. Will report back when ready!

Stop feeding it mixed fruits. It is so unnecessary and most likely will you just bounce you through a bunch of colours. Sky Blue is easily obtained through just Doman Plums from Desert Yellow on.
There is no 'tweaking' colours by giving it mixed fruits. It's becoming clearer and clearer that it's just presets. Check my sheet, it will become much more clear then.
As I said just a few posts above, I'm in the same situation as you, Rivest and Raze_Endbringer. I'm having Kobold Brown, Ink Blue and Deepwood Green.
My guess is that the color range between these three and Soot Black is so close that the system picks one at random.
So, I would keep feeding only one fruit until the feather proc (corresponding to your current color, obviously) and pray to see Soot Black happen.
From Marsh green (55, 63, 39) to soot black (47, 47, 39) anybody got any idea?
I have been on the slow and painful road on trying to get my chocobo to "Soot Black". I started off trying to get "Slate Gray" but messed up some where and now I am completely lost. I hope The following info helps anyone out. I will also keep editing this post till I finally get "Soot Black".Thank you Snootles for your advice, I will continue my “Adventure to ‘Soot Black’” on my last post and on this one. I will only feed the one food until I receive the “.. is beginning to grow new feathers!” proc message. I hope my old and/or this post will help those who are looking for Soot Black. You really should stop feeding it mixed fruits. You are most likely wasting your resources because you'll go from colour to colour without knowing what you're landing on. You may have very well already landed on Soot Black but because you didn't stop after a 'feather proc', went on to another. Check my sheet and it will be much clearer.
