Make sense. Think about that cork brown...so the guy feed his chocobo 3 berries and 3 apples, it will remove 3 red 6 green 3 blue. Original chocobo colour is 219 180 87, cork brown is 179 139 79, so that is (-40,-41,-1)

Those are the two-seater birds given out for having a friend subscribe to the game. A special event bird, basically. And I know you can examine the bird to see it's gear, haven't thought to check to see if it says what color the bird is...I'll start off by saying i can't even try this since i don't have an FC. But reading the theories is entertaining. But based on the rgb theory wouldn't it take the longest for white or black? I already saw several on my server yesterday with white tips to the feathers. It caught my eye so i stopped and looked at them. Couldn't say what the actual color was called since you can't inspect someone else's chocobo. Just haven't seen anyone post on the forums anything about white yet. Wish I'd taken a screenshot.

This is actually and extremely good observation and theory. I like it a lot. It would mean, however, that in order to get Soot Black [37, 35, 30], some serious voodoo is going to be required. So it looks like each items is ~6 value +/-, which matches almost perfectly with the Cork Brown balance. Once the system calculates the new color, it finds the actual color with the smallest deviation from the ideal color.From the first few i've seen floating around who use only one type of feed, the colour thats meant to darken or lighten actually stays the same and the other colours move. The RGB figures have been rounded by up or down.
Desert Yellow (220,180,90) ----> 1 O'Ghomoro Berries -----> Aldgoat Brown (160,135,90) [-60,-40,=]
Desert Yellow (220,180,90) ----> 2 Xelphatol Apples -----> Millicorn Yellow (220,160,50) [=,-20,-40]
This indicates that by darkening blue you are infact removing hue from red and green the one 2 steps away dropping double the one closest.
This was a very shallow test and is in no way fact.
I was the Lala in the picture that got Cork Brown from 3x Apples, 3x Berries. Another user on Reddit has confirmed 3x Apples gave them Millioncorn Yellow, while another has posted that 11x Apples has given them Pumpkin Orange.
One thing I can say for sure, though, is that stable condition likely doesn't have a bearing on coloring as my stable was in Poor condition when I did the feeding.
There's something that I think is important to know here. It's entirely possible that you can only work one primary color at a time. If nothing else beneficial happens after the first time you see "is growing new feathers", then it might be helpful to know which one you fed him first! If I had to guess, you fed him Pineapples first, meaning "Lighten Blue" and that's all that happened to him. It would also be obvious that "Lighten Blue" was actually removing value from the blue channel. The conclusion being that if you "Lighten" everything, you end up with black. Your bird got darker rather than lighter...... More yellow/less "tan" or grey.

I'm lost.
I've gone to find myself.
If I should return before I get back,
Please ask me to wait.

I strongly doubt 1x O'Ghomoro Berries = Aldgoat Brown. The guy on Reddit said "I fed the bird 1 O'ghomoro Berry first and then various other snacks just in case multiple snack feeding applied." So, it seems that 1x O'Ghomoro Berries + RANDOM THINGS = Aldgoat Brown :P
EDIT: So, in other words, pay attention to what ELSE people feed the chocobo. Some seem to think that only the first thing fed does anything, and then threw in random other things that they didn't report in their end result.

I do wish they would at least let us know the most important thing which is how the feeding works. Is it just the last 2 treats that count or the first 2 or some other number. That would help with the testing of how to get to color X so we are not on the wrong path due to a lot of the feeding being wasted.

Mine just finished. I did one apple, no change. The message about plumage did pop up, but not the growing feathers one.
[13:04]Kupokupokupokupokupo is beginning to grow new feathers!
Third apple overall just now. Don't know if I should feed something extra or try to match someone else who's fed three.
Edit: Fed an additional 6. Each one got the new feathers message. Not sure if that's cap message or not still...
