Starting with the Desert Yellow

Fed pears until message: Lime Green
Fed pears until message: Apple Green
Fed 30+ pears with no message so waited the 6hrs
Fed O'berries until message: Cactuar Green
Fed O'berries until message: Turquoise Green

I just fed it apples so we will see what happens now but I'm going for Morbol Green eventually.

It seems like Apple Green is the max green that you can reach with Mamook Pears.

Did you only feed O'Ghomorro Berries from Apple Green to Cactur Green? Same question from Cactuar Green to Turquoise Green?

My journey to slate grey from the base color:

O'Ghomoro Berry x21, Xelphatol Apple x7, Mamook Pear x7 (as per this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...view?sle=true#) (DID NOT TURN SLATE GREY, ENDED UP PLUM PURPLE. Knowing what I know now this was pretty obviously going to happen)

Then 5x pears to get to ceruleum blue.

Then 1 plum, 1 valfruit, and 1 pineapple to slate grey.

Desert yellow -> plum purple -> ceruleum blue -> slate grey.

After trying yet again to go towards soot black, i ended up in dalamud red.
Anyone got any advice to share towards getting Soot?

I was thinking maybe 10 apples and 3 mamook pears?

Pears and Berries, actually. You have way too much red, and apples will only make that problem worse. You probably want both in relatively equal numbers.

Do you know a specific number of what to feed?
113 R 23 B 23 G apparently is what i have on Dalamud red.

My theory is that the change each snack gives is random. The only way to do it is to try something that should push you in the right direction (in this case, Berries and Pears), and then see what happens. You never want to stop on a non- "New Feathers" message, because if you don't get the message, there won't be a change. I would do like 5x of each and, assuming you get the message, see where you are before proceeding. If you don't get the message, try more, or you may even want to throw in a Plum or two, but I'd wait on that until your red was lower.
