Chocobo dyeing R&D Thread - Post your results here!

Alright so now my chocobo is shale brown >.> not much better than coral pink lol.. any advice as to where i should go from here to get him to grape purple?

I would give a guess of:
15 Berries
10 Pears
17 Apples

I think that should make either Currant or Grape Purple, if you try, tell your result please

Just fed my chocobo 6 apples, 9 pears and 3 berries. All at once starting from apples, and not rotating fruits. Starting color was Desert Yellow.

Didn't get a "growing new feathers!" message until the third apple. After that, all subsequent feedings had the message. So in total, I counted 15 "growing new feathers!"

I'm hoping to get Dalamud Red. I shall report the result tomorrow.

And it gave me Millicorn Yellow. I gave him one apple and "growing new feathers!" popped up. We'll see what it'll be. I'm guessing Sunset Orange?

It *should* likely be Pumpkin Orange before Sunset Orange using only Apples from Millicorn Yellow.

Maybe I shouldn't have feed him all those pears and berries first. :/ Seems like a waste in hindsight.

I ended up with Coeurl Yellow instead. XD

Coeurl Yellow has very saturated blue, so maybe I should try lightening? Or maybe I should stuff him with more apples...?

Originally I had the following for the apple-only line of feeds:

Desert Yellow > Millicorn Yellow > Pumpkin Orange > Sunset Orange > Blood Red.

That was my path up the apple line (new feather x1, stop).

But reviewing back the pages, I learned Mesa Red can occur in between Sunset Orange and Blood Red, which clearly I didnt get.

So what happened in your case has two possibilities:

1) You got simply got a color that I skipped over on my feeding, which is a common occurrence.
2) Your previous feeds might have shifted your color line a bit different then a pure Apple feed.

I would maybe just do exclusively apples for the next feed to see where it gets you.

Btw, again not 100% (lets say 95%)...Blood Red + Berry till 1 new feathers *should* = Dalamud Red

EDIT: My test chocobo that was Blood Red just turned Dalamud Red with one Berry / new feather feed.

The Result i've got is ... Cork Brown ... Maybe its bacause the last fruit i fed is O'Ghomoro Berry ... should have fed Mamook Pear instead ...
Anyway i'll still stick with Blackrukus's Method.i've fed my Cork Brown with this order | 20 O'Ghomoro Berries, 10 Mamook Pears , 8 Xelphatol Apples
Message "Beginning to grow new feathers" pop at 5th berries and everytimes i fed the rest of fruits.

Consider it a general guideline. As long as you move in to blue territory you should be good.

Should be pointed out by now that the results are somewhat RNG based. Copying another person's recipe won't always result in you getting the same thing. My FC mate copied someone's recipe on here, and got something completely different. Always keep an eye on your Chocobo and keep trying. Hopefully they add those personal room gardening pots soon.
