Hi Hi Hi *kicher* FFXI Insider. Hi Hi Hi. *kicher*
2012...
"Hätte ich doch mal nur meine Klappe gehalten..."
I originally had a pumpkin orange chocobo from feeding mine a lot of apples (didn't count how many messages/apples on the first day), then I grew some berries and pears and fed 11 messages each last night. Woke up to find my chocobo...acorn brown...which basically just looked like a darker shade of yellow. @_@ Now I fed my chocobo another 14 messages worth of berries in hopes that the yellow will go away.

I'm done for now with Lavender Blue.
My method for this was just feeding O'ghomoro berries until I got one new feathers message, and then waiting until the change 6 hours later.
Desert Yellow > Cork Brown > Ul Brown > Gobbiebag Brown > Shale Brown > Goobbue Grey > Lavender Blue
In theory if the change is steady someone could test whether it's amount of fruits or new feathers messages by seeing what happens if they feed O'ghomoro Berries and get the message 6 times? At least if I'm understanding things correctly.Code:Amount fed | Color | (RRR, GGG, BBB) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Starting Color | Desert Yellow | (216, 175, 80) +3 O'ghomoro Berries, 3 total | Cork Brown | (197, 139, 79) +1 O'ghomoro Berries, 4 total | Ul Brown | (178, 157, 105) +3 O'ghomoro Berries, 7 total | Gobbiebag Brown | (180, 158, 130) +2 O'ghomoro Berries, 9 total | Shale Brown | (140, 122, 101) +2 O'ghomoro Berries, 11 total | Goobbue Grey | (130, 128, 125) +3 O'ghomoro Berries, 14 total | Lavender Blue | (128, 120, 169)

My husband's chocobo that we've been tracking carefully. In each case we feed berries until the 1st "new feathers" message. In theory if the change is steady someone could test whether it's amount of fruits or new feathers messages by seeing what happens if they feed O'ghomoro Berries and get the message 6 times? At least if I'm understanding things correctly.Code:Starting Color | Desert Yellow | +3 O'ghomoro Berries, 3 total | Cork Brown +1 O'ghomoro Berries, 4 total | Ul Brown +3 O'ghomoro Berries, 7 total | Gobbiebag Brown +2 O'ghomoro Berries, 9 total | Shale Brown +2 O'ghomoro Berries, 11 total | Goobbue Grey +3 O'ghomoro Berries, 14 total | Lavender Blue
Starting color: Desert Yellow:
Fed 3 Berries (3 total) : UI Brown
Fed 3 Berries (6 total) => Aldboat Brown
Fed 1 Berry (7 total): => Shale Brown
Fed 2 Berries (9 total) => Gobbue Grey
Fed 2 Berries (11 total) => Lavender Purple (blue)
You ended up with colors we didn't, which strengthens my thought that maybe there is some kind of HQ-type proc on some of the colors. Seems like people would be better off going one step at a time instead of mass feedings.
I think the color theory is more/or maybe less complex than just comparing the exact RGB numbers. If the colors were arranged on a color wheel chart based on the position of their RGB and then compared on their value and distance between other colors, I believe it would be easier to see in which direction to change the coloring with the corresponding foods. If that's true, then a tool like this one should solve many problems : https://kuler.adobe.com/create/color-wheel/

This is some fantastic information! Seeing the colors fade into each other like that really helps visualize how this system works, and your table with the RGB values really helps as well. Thank you!I'm done for now with Lavender Blue.

To add to this, I got Sky Blue by doing this process until Lavender blue, then using Plums until one new feather message. That said, I got 2 feather messages from Berries after getting Shale Brown but still ended up at Goobbue Grey, so unfortunately it seems that it's not so simpleIn theory if the change is steady someone could test whether it's amount of fruits or new feathers messages by seeing what happens if they feed O'ghomoro Berries and get the message 6 times?
