Hey, here's my log. I finally got Soot Black earlier today, in between coil runs.

Starting Color : Kobold Brown
Chocobo Level: 10
Stable Condition: Poor
Feed Used: x2 Doman Plum
New Feathers: 1/2 Plums
Result: Soot Black

Result: Soot Black

in case you don't get Soot Black from the Valfruit method, try this as it worked for me.
