Got to it from Kobold Brown via a single plum ^.^

Was at Kobold Brown, fed 1 Doman Plum, got the "beginning to grow new feathers" on first try. Got Ink Blue instead. Did Pineapples on Ink Blue, same result, got "growing new feathers" on first try, waited for 6 hours. Sent back to Kobold Brown. Something's not right here.
Proof of my results via chat log.
Starting Color : Kobold Brown
Chocobo Level: 10
Stable Condition: Fair
Feed Used: x1 Doman Plum
New Feathers: 1/1 Plums
Result: Ink Blue
[8:49 p.m.]Juju devours the Doman plum.
[8:49 p.m.]Juju's plumage will change in 6 hours.
[8:49 p.m.]Juju is beginning to grow new feathers!
Result: Ink Blue

Your exact RGB values might not have been in the same range as the person above (there is a bit of RNG here). This could cause the issue that you're having with bouncing between Kobold/Ink Blue. Was at Kobold Brown, fed 1 Doman Plum, got the "beginning to grow new feathers" on first try. Got Ink Blue instead. Then the questions begs an answer of, if people who learn how to get to Soot Black try to teach others the path to get there, how do you get everyone there without getting someone caught in a loop? Even though they're all reaching the same colors up until Soot Black? And then another question begs to be said, do we just keep bouncing back and forth until we get lucky via RNG or do we start over and make our way back there again somehow?

That's an exceptional question because it's doubtful that everyone is at the same inner RGB value. The closer you are in shades to a desired colour the more difficult it becomes to get that colour. The only suggestion to try to avoid a loop when you're close to your desired plumage colour is small controlled feeds of a single type of fruit. This way you're not mass adjusting multiple RGB levels. The the questions begs an answer of, if people who learn how to get to Soot Black try to teach others the path to get there, how do you get everyone there without getting someone caught in a loop? If you hit Ink Blue again maybe try 2 pineapples and 1 valfruit to break the cycle; mileage may vary (don't hate me if I'm wrong).

Yeah, I just threw a bunch of stuff at it and went from Ink Blue -> Midnight Blue. Any suggestions at how to get back there? 2 Pineapples you think might be enough? I'm attempting to push myself back to Kobold to keep trying and see if it may really be RNG with attempts, or to figure out a way back to Deepwood Green from Kobold Brown, once I get back there to try the Valfruit strategy. That's an exceptional question because it's doubtful that everyone is at the same inner RGB value. I would feed it pineapples until it procs the feather message, I think when it procs it means you've lowered your blue back down to the next available color, and there aren't any blues in between ink blue and midnight blue. Should be a couple pineapples at most I'd think, maybeeee three if two doesn't work.Yeah, I just threw a bunch of stuff at it and went from Ink Blue -> Midnight Blue. Ravenguard I know you have been helping people out and I was wondering if you would do the same for me. I don't have a lot of monetary resources in game but I do have access to the FC's gardening lot and so I have 30 of each of the color feeds. I haven't even started on my chocobo so it is standard color atm. My desired color is Soot black so I was wondering what would you suggest I feed to get that color? I previous poster said he was able to get soot black from Loam brown (which I got from the google doc spreadsheet) and I was thinking of following his footsteps since he was the world first soot black I believe.

Having the FC garden will help you greatly to save a bit of Gil while you tweak your Chocobo's plumage. I would recommend you buy one of every seed type (all six) and fertilize them with some Grade3 Shroud soil (if you have a miner) for some high yield to play around with.Ravenguard I know you have been helping people out and I was wondering if you would do the same for me. I assume you haven't fed anything to your Chocobo to change his initial plumage from Desert Yellow. That would start with Very High REDs, High GREENs, and low BLUEs.
So to start, you're going to want to drastically lower those GREENs and REDs using BLUE DEEPEN'ers (O'Ghomoro Berry). This will have the adverse effect of raising your BLUEs, however getting all three colors around the same value will make the voyage to Soot Black a little easier. If you add in a few apples and pears into the mix, it should slow down your BLUEs from getting too high in the process.
I would try this for my initial feeding:
x12 O'Ghomoro Berry
x6 Mamook Pear
x6 Xelphatol Apple
At the very least, this will put you much closer to your goal, then we can decide what to feed him to direct this new color toward your desired color of Soot Black.

Yes I currently have one of each seen in the garden all with Grade 3 Shroud soil. They will soon be harvestable and that's when I want to go. For initial feeading do you mean all those 3 at once? or like feed berrys first, wait a bit then mamook, or do you do 1 by one? Sorry havnt even touched the feeding of fear of screwing it up
