The above is the number of fruits to feed and not specifically the feather messages. By feeding the above you should see at least 1 if not multiple feather messages.

I fed it before I went to bed according to your original quality because I was getting too sleepy to see if there would be an update and it turned back to Regal Purple. I just gave it 2 Apples and 1 Pear in hopes of finally ending where I want, so if you have anything I should be adding to it let me know! I appreciate the help, I've just gotten regal purple about 6 times now so I'm ready to get away from it again

I am desperate
I'm going back and forth from Sylph Green/Salmon Pink/Gobbiebag Brown and I can't seem to get out of this loop!

Right now it's Salmon Pink, I want it Lotus Pink so I figured I should put some more blue (it's the one with the highest difference) so I fed him some Berries now. I will wait until tonight to see what it turns out but I am not sure how to go on... any thoughts?

The method I took to get morbol green (was actually random):

Fed it 15 Xelphatol apples, it changed to Pumpkin Orange.

Then fed it 30 O'ghommoro berries and 15 mamook pears and boom, Morbol Green.

I fed my chocobo 3 apples (1x plume message, 2x new feather messages) to go from turquoise green to cactuar green. I'm trying to tweak things to get to hunter green.

So I've been helping FC members get to the colors they want and been researching this like all week. I don't know if this has already been posted because i'm too lazy to read through all of this to check, but here's how I've found works exceedingly well for chocobo coloring.

Step 1: check RGB values.
So you'll need the RGB values for the color you want, and the color you want to get to. I've been using the chocobo color spreadsheet:

Step 2: Wolfram Alpha.
There's this really cool physics and math tool called Wolfram Alpha, link is below. Well luckily there's a widget that has been made for it regarding additive colors! This will give you a full RGB map to go by for hunting down the color you want. Now, you will need to open 2 of the widget, and input the color you have in one, and the color you want in the other.

Step 3: draw a line.
Now you will want to use your mouse as a marker to roughly estimate the color you are at's location, on the chart for the color you want (unfortunately you can't map 2 points on the same grid). now, use a pencil to draw a line FROM the one you have TO the one you want. This will essentially make a vector the direction you want to travel to.

Step 4: determine food.
The edge the vector you have just drawn points at, tells you roughly what food you need in order to get the color you want. Red corresponds to apples, blue to berries, green to pears, purple to valfruit, teal to doman plum, yellow to pineapple.

Step 5: feed.
If it is a great distance you may need more than 10 of the selected food, if very short you may need as little as 2 to 4. make your best guess and feed your chocobo!

Step 6: repeat as necessary.
don't worry if you overshoot. may take a couple of feedings but carefully adjust to the color you want and you're good!

I'm currently at Lilac Purple after restarting (which is 135r, 111g, 111b), and I'm also shooting for soot black. Any ideas on how to get there? I was stuck in the darkening loop for along time so I just decided to start back from the top.

I've also been digging through the thread, but I cant find what the change each fruit provides. Thanks in advance.

today, i finally managed to dye my chocobo black!


This is my entire process i used, including values i used to calculate what to feed next.

Is it true you need 2 pineapple from midnight blue to get to soot black? It apparently worked for a few people here (I guess 3 would be best though)

Debated if change is +/- 5 or 8 currently. Seems closer to 5 though.
