Chocobo dyeing R&D Thread - Post your results here!

Hello community,

so as of 2.35 we can dye chocobos via a snack feeding system. The snacks are garden items with seeds that are bought with allied seals.

There are 7 types of snack. One is a reset that reverts the choco's plume color to the default. The other 6 darken/lighten the hues of red, blue and green. It seems, at first glance, that manipulating color will be an exercise in mixing snacks to alter the hue combination till you get the desired color. One could guess that lighening all hues gets white and darkening them all gets black...?

Below is the info we know so far from the patch notes:

The option Feed my chocobo has been added to the Chocobo Stable interface under Tend to My Chocobo. By selecting this option, players can feed their chocobo any of the following fruits:

Xelphatol Apple / Doman Pum / Mamook Pear / Valfruit / O'Ghomoro Berries / Cieldalaes Pineapple

Once fed, a chocobo's plumage will change in six hours (Earth time).
* The chocobo's plumage will change color depending on the fruit it was fed.
* After the chocobo's plumage changes color, feeding it a Han lemon will restore their plumage to their original yellow hue. Unlike other fruits, the chocobo's plumage will change immediately upon inspecting the chocobo stable a second time.
* No change will occur if chocobos are removed from the stable prematurely. It is recommended to feed them during times when the chocobo can be left stabled for extended periods, such as prior to logging out for the day.

In one of our garden FC beds I've planted all 3 variations of color lightening snacks to start of our research. I'll be taking screenshots of each change and posting them here. I haven't yet figured out exactly how we'll go about but with a few days till the first batch is ready there's time to formalise that. I'll keep the OP updated with significant finds as time goes on. let's do this kweh!

The French / German / Japanese patch notes list COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COLORS than the english notes.

Xelphatol Apple: English says Red, te others also say Red.

Doman Pum: English says it lightens red, others say Light Blue

Mamook Pear: English says Green, the others also say Green.

Valfruit: English says it lightens green, the rest says Purple.

O'Ghomoro Berries: Englsih says blue, the others also say Blue.

Cieldalaes Pineapple: English says it lightens blue, the rest say Yellow.

Oh oh! I got it! It's basically RGB color mixing.
Removing red leaves blue and green, which makes cyan.
Removing green leaves blue and red, which makes purple.
Removing blue leaves red and green which makes yellow.

So basically english changed it from "increases secondary color" to "lightens primary color".

Yea, that's what I was thinking. I'm glad there's a thread for this; it'll be fun to see people's results!

I'd love to grow them but all our garden plots are currently dedicated to growing Glazenuts... >.>
