Finally got my chocobo to Abyssal blue from Blood red, just by feeding 21 berries and 1 pear (all proc message), which is closer to my objective of ink blue.
So currently, I'm on RGB 43 39 80.
Should I add 3/4 apples, 3 pears and 7/8 berries? Or is there some way I'm not considering?
Due to forum posting limits I can't help with coloring as much as I'd like, so visit me here: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/2168293/blog/1568406/ for my coloring "blog".
Rorichan and kgbrown247, your answers are there!

Your Blue level is too high for Ink Blue. You need to get your Red and Green a little lower still, but then your blue needs to drop a lot. Finally got my chocobo to Abyssal blue from Blood red, just by feeding 21 berries and 1 pear (all proc message), which is closer to my objective of ink blue.

I would add x3 Berries (gets red/green to Ink blue levels), then start adding Pear + Apple alternately. I would say x6 Pear x6 Apple. Again make sure to alternate feedings (1 pear > 1 apple > 1 pear > 1 apple > etc.).
Like people before have said on advice, it is not exact science, and advice. Can't guarantee results, but I've been helping friends/FC people pretty successfully so far.

I just tried it and going by the +6/-6 (or5) it should work or be right on the ballpark. Will surely update in 6 hours.Your Blue level is too high for Ink Blue. You need to get your Red and Green a little lower still, but then your blue needs to drop a lot.

So, you need R++, G+, and B---. Try Apple + Pear + Pineapple in a 3:2:1 ratio until you get the message, then see where you are? That should get you in the direction you want. Maybe do 3:2:1, then if you get a (new feathers) message on the 6th feed (ignore any from feeds 1-5), stop and see what you get. Otherwise, do a few more in roughly those proportions until you do get the message.

Should I be feeding 1 color at a time or alternating? o.O;So, you need R++, G+, and B---. Try Apple + Pear + Pineapple in a 3:2:1 ratio until you get the message, then see where you are? Good luck!
Obviously your Blue is a bit high. I'd personally go with x2 Apple (raise red, lower green/blue) > x1 Pineapple (further lower blue, raise green back to correct spot + red to about where it needs to be > x3 Apple + x3 Pear alternate (keeps your r/g levels the same, while lowering blue to appropriate level. Make sure you are alternating Apple > Pear > etc.).
This will bring you very close to what you are looking for. Hopefully right on the money, but again RNG and unknowns involved.

Also for those wondering about alternating, the reason I'm suggesting this in regards to *soot black* requests, is because we simply don't know if there is a color floor or where it is exactly. I'm simply trying to keep people from hitting it (unless intentionally leveling out all colors) because it'll throw off the color proportions.
In the mid range of numbers it won't matter as much, but I do it just to keep track of things.

Since I'm stuck in this black loop... I took an earlier suggestion and I decided to try the math route and try to floor all my values to 0 by alternating Apples, Pears, Berries until I'm at 0 5 0. From there I began alternating valfruit, pineapple, plums until I hit a range of 40 35 30. This is with the theory that the values alternate +/- 5 on each feed.
This may just have been a huge waste of fruit, but at least this will give me some peace of mind. If this doesn't work I'm gonna work back to Ink Blue and call it good until a more concrete method emerges.
I'll be back in 3.5 hours to report.
