You guys are absolutely right with your assessment of the situation. Similar questions were answered by Yoshi-P just last week when he was in L.A. to do a slew of interviews with the media and various websites. Basically, the main scenario (the Echo, the Ascians, the Waking Sands, your Path companion, etc.) will continue once the people of Eorzea have figured out how to deal with the coming calamity first.

I'm wondering if the twelve also are counted in here?

I was also thinking more about the elements each are associated with, such as Earth for Althyk (my Guardian; I'm a sucker for time-space persons). Perhaps it wouldn't be so much an ability, but increase in certain elemental attributes? And also each moon phase; seeing as Eorzean time flies by so quickly, probably an extra boost to luck, or even some extra attribute points during that phase.

I would like to bring up at this time if there have been any announcement to how Guardian Deities will play a role during character customization. Nothing clear was mentioned the last I've read anything on it.
