All great ideas, none of which will be implemented because Square's too stupid to actually choose good ideas for their game.

That doesn't seem much relevant to guardians to me, more like a daily bonus. So I would like some more info on the guardian system. (Not to distract everyone from the aftermath of 1.18 and all, just want a glimpse into something else other than people complaining about 1.18 and its own issues.)

    A Modest Proposal
I propose giving characters special abilities that won't affect the fairness of having that particular Guardian, or skew the want for particular guardianship. Much to the affect of WoW's racial abilities (Yes, I'm citing WoW don't cry) a Guardian can function in a similar manner as an innate ability, that sometimes gives to you a little edge in your activities.

    Guardian Levels

Some have voiced that storyline or lore would be great to introduce these abilities. I agree, however I believe you should start out with some skill, and do some kind of "Guardian Trial" to level up your Guardian skills. For example
    Thaliak, the scholar
    Lvl 1-------------- Lvl 2 ------------------------------------------ ------- Lvl 3
Item Lore-------- Item Lore II (Increases the potency of items.)---- Item Lore II (No Change)
Libra------------- Libra (Does not change this level)------------------ Libraga (Party wide libra)

    Now post my children!

I have no idea to what extent these marginal passive or active skills can truly affect the gameplay, but if you have better idea, I'm sure you and the Devs would love to hear em right here in this thread :]

The 12 Resources (Not actually 12)

    Eorzeapedia Deities
By the 12!? And now with Lore!
I would moreso propose introducing shrines for all the deities and giving the option to change if one wished to, however it would have to be done in the shrine. To raise your "faith" in a deity you could give tributes which could be done one a RL day for fame in that deity. Though you would be given two option, one option would be tributes that they always accept and the second would be the special tribute of that RL day, if you give them said tribute you would get 5x the normal fame. Basically they would add storyline quest to each deity so you could learn about each one and overall you would be given the opportunity to obtain unique traits and abilities for each deity, however you can only use said ability when you are aligned to the proper deity. Or perhaps you could also share between the same elemental affinity minus certain abilities.

The idea from the OP is good for a bare bones setup but overall I think it would be interesting to see a wide range of abilities to be obtainable from the deities. When I think of XIV, I think of true customization but the game is lacking that atm. While we were believed the class system would allow this, upon release it turned nothing more into using key staples from each class for everyone to be the same. True customization should be the ability to have a wide range of variables to work with to actually make each character unique from one another. When i saw GM I was also dissapointed with how bare bone that was, upon the actual release of the game I would like to see them adding new GM every now and then for each class til there's lik 100 for each class. While sure maybe they all aren't good for your playstyle at least there would be a lot of option to pick and choose from to play how you would like to play.

But ya I definitely want to hear if they have anything in mind for deities atm or if they haven't thought that far yet. it really does have the potential to add another variable in customization.

Yeah, great point man. I haven't added an afterthoughts section to the OP yet but I will soon. I like the idea of shrines! also it would be great to have some leeway to switch your guardian, although at a greater prices, because the guardian has an impact on your play style. I wouldn't want someone when it comes time to craft to just switch to Nophica, and then when it comes time to fight grab Halone.

I kept my post to such a basic set up cuz well the more detailed you get, the more angry and confused people tend to get. I haven't gotten much suggestion, other then corrections about Nymeia and Menphina, seeing more would totally improve the quality of this suggestion. As far as more skills go, I would be nice, but more skills 1) means more thinking, and 2) means skewing your character further from its regular job purposes. 1-2 abilities work at best to ensure nothing gets too overpowered.

I had this thought in another thread regarding death/ressurection and how to involve nameday guardians.

My thought is, when you die, your relevant nameday guardian appears before your corpse asking if you would like to:
    • Return to <Nearest Camp> (You will have had to touch the aether at the game to be able to use this option.
    • Return to <Home Point>.
After choosing one of the options the guardian would do a quick casting animation and then you appear at your home point or nearest camp. Just a basic idea really, lots of different things you could do with it.
