By the 12!?: What About the Guardians?

    From what I understand...
Your choice of guardian doesn't have any affect on you. When activating your favor, I understand you get in general a skill point bonus? That doesn't seem much relevant to guardians to me, more like a daily bonus. So I would like some more info on the guardian system. (Not to distract everyone from the aftermath of 1.18 and all, just want a glimpse into something else other than people complaining about 1.18 and its own issues.)

    A Modest Proposal
I propose giving characters special abilities that won't affect the fairness of having that particular Guardian, or skew the want for particular guardianship. Much to the affect of WoW's racial abilities (Yes, I'm citing WoW don't cry) a Guardian can function in a similar manner as an innate ability, that sometimes gives to you a little edge in your activities.

    Guardian Levels

Some have voiced that storyline or lore would be great to introduce these abilities. I agree, however I believe you should start out with some skill, and do some kind of "Guardian Trial" to level up your Guardian skills. For example
    Thaliak, the scholar
    Lvl 1-------------- Lvl 2 ------------------------------------------ ------- Lvl 3
Item Lore-------- Item Lore II (Increases the potency of items.)---- Item Lore II (No Change)
Libra------------- Libra (Does not change this level)------------------ Libraga (Party wide libra)

    Now post my children!

I have no idea to what extent these marginal passive or active skills can truly affect the gameplay, but if you have better idea, I'm sure you and the Devs would love to hear em right here in this thread :]

    Indeed, magic can crit.

All in all, a wonderful idea you have here. I hope the devs are watching.

I think I would rather see them as traits, and I've put some good amount of thought into this as well because having the option to choose a deity was pretty neat but sucks they haven't done anything with it. If you follow the lore between the gods and goddesses you learn they have their own story (there was a post somewhere on the net which talked about this). But basically what I was thinking was to have a Pro and Con for each deity (The positive effect on the player would be something that is directly related to the god of their choosing, the negative effect would be something from a god(dess) that doesn't like your god(dess) and has a direct tie in with opposite deity).

As far as exact details on what they would be? No idea. Your ideas seem cool but like I mentioned, I feel they should be traits and more subtle; or have phases in the game (days of the week kind of thing I suppose) when they strengthen and weaken. Also as a side note: Nymiea, the Spinner is referring to the Spinner of Fates (paths crossing and such; not so much with armor) she is basically the incarnation of Astrology if it'd be taken in a basic term. So maybe more of a Luck factor or something, maybe Treasure Hunter, if you are familiar with XI's terminology.

Hmm as far as detrimental effects go, I kinda wouldn't recommend it. We wanna focus on the positive ya know?
Yeah I would wanna try and keep them limited to passive abilities as well, but an active ability isn't so bad. Maybe one of each?

& and thank you for letting me know about Nymeia, I just made a quick assumption about her xD although treasure hunter would be cool, Like some of my above idea, people would be like "No, I want THF to have that." Fate is kinda a hard concept to incorporate unless its gonna be statistical (In which statistics then make it less of fate lol), because we have free will in an MMO to play how we like.

This was a fun read! I too was hoping there'd be more to the choice of Guardian at the start. It'd be wonderful if something subtle such as this was implemented.

Menphine seems like a difficult one for me to make something up. A charm-type skill may be interesting-Not in the way BST was in FFXI. But idk, These are just my ideas.
She is also symbolised with the skillet, so perhaps a small bonus to duration of food effects.
