What I've been wondering about is how some of the competitors have been framing their shots so well, having their characters off-center most of the time. Is it that there's another character always taking the shots, or is there some other way, besides cropping the image, to achieve this effect?

Echoed to what Yunie said, but there was a tip early on this thread that showed how. On computer, I can hit F5 I think and have it lock on to a target, from there, that target becomes the center and I can move my character camera in almost any direction around.

I particularly like using the sun minion because I can position it in a particular spot, lock-on, and get in position since it's stationary. It's great fun.

I loved Maxwell's picture because I felt like he went a step further and incorporated himself into the story. He could have easily just done a /pose while standing there with the wolves. Instead he went a step further and aggro-ed them so he'd have a really interesting shot to take.

I appreciate this as well! I died twice during that photo shoot cause I was silly enough to use the lvl 46 wolves and I couldn't see my HP bar with scroll-lock on >_>; I think, aside from the thunder shoot, it's probably my favorite shot so far even if it wasn't super model-esque. Gotta work with ya got! And I don't have abs, so that numbers things that I can work with down to adorable and cute lol

Also, using lock-on on a target in the distance helps off center your character too!

I usually take tons of screenshots myself, and end up having to crop 'em in photoshop to give a more dynamic look. I tried using lock-on a long time ago, but it didn't work well for screens because I kept trying to move my character, which automatically turns you around.

Now I just tried it again moving only the camera, and sure enough with a little extra planning and positioning, it works nicely. Only problem is, emotes still turn the character to face the locked on object. Drat!
