In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have posted what I posted, considering the discussion that ensued after that...
I feel a bit bad right now ._.

This may be off topic, but what about having a caption of 6 to 10 words sent with our screenshots? I think it'll somewhat add up to what the voters are perceiving from the model or whether they are in line with what the model is trying to convey through their shot? Captions can be posted on the first post on each round. Also, the judges can tend their scores- depending on whether the models have delivered their ideas correctly, because to be honest this is not completely a modeling competition, it actually has the element of 'acting' and from what I noticed SO many of the voters have mentioned the word 'story' or have said 'it's telling me a story' and so far every shot that got the highest votes had somewhat a scenario behind it- not just a model sitting there trying to look pretty, why? because some races have advantages over the rest in terms of "modeling" and people need to step it up to get votes.

I went to bed content with the way things are contest wise but after reading Ciara's post I was all "YAH! What she said!" lol So , yah I have come to the conclusion that it's saturday and i planned on sleeping in. ( What i'm trying to say is I'm good either way.)
I know I am probably the one getting voted off the island this round (see what i did thar) and I am sad about it, I am not gonna lie. Sadder than i thought i'd be because this is fun and i dont want that to end but, such is life. I think everyone involved in this fun event are wonderful people and even if i'm not competing after this round, you all are stuck with me till the end when a winner is crowned
Rongi: I am volunteering to help you all next cycle if you would like
I think the contest is fine the way it is. I wasn't happy about being eliminated in the first prelim round. I thought my shot was good. The voters didn't. The judges gave me a pretty good score so apparently they liked it. If it were just judges voting i would have went on to the next round.
If its the comments that are offending then put no commenting, just vote. I never comment on photos i didn't like, just why i picked the ones I did.![]()

I think the stress of elimination does add something good to the competition, it forces you to not slack and get out there. It's also what makes next top model, Next Top Model I feel. So I would not want to see that change.
The problem I think is the forum votes, which can be very subjective or even abusive (say if people just vote for their friends or get their friends and FC mates to vote for them) have too much weight compared to the judges's scores.
Instead of the judges scores adding a small bonus, the opposite can happen.
So judges can have a set criteria and vote strictly based on that. e.g. max 2 points for background 2 points for outfit pose, 3 for originality and 3 for overall artistic impression.
So everyone will get a base score out of 10 from the judges.
For the voters a system similar to the one presented where first place get a set amount of points and so on can be used as the popularity bonus. This could be scaled either 100% equal to the judges score, or less. i.e. top place gets 10 points, or top place could get only 5 points.
This way, scores are not totally skewed based solely on the number of people voting, because right now the judges votes can be simply noise in the background if a lot of people vote.

As one of the newest judges it was explained to me that if we get an influx of votes our total point value per vote will go up.
So instead of a 1 - 3 scale per contestant it may become a 1 - 5 or maybe even a 1 - 10!
So our votes can count for more if needed.
Rongi has really thought this out. My hats off to him.
That may well be, but its still quite arbitrary. If people know the rules are static but made fair by proper weighting and criteria, it will go a long way toward people not feeling slighted by the popular vote.As one of the newest judges it was explained to me that if we get an influx of votes our total point value per vote will go up.

But the only score that means anything is the lowest one. Some models may feel slighted by not getting more votes but as long as they get enough to stay in, they shouldn't.
I think back to every elimination since Cycle 1 Round 2 (when this voting system was implemented) and every single one has been "deserved." *hates the word*
If we switch to this new voting system, what place you get is suddenly going to matter, and models are going to feel even more slighted.
First Place will get a certain amount, Second will get a certain amount...suddenly all of you have even more of a reason to tell your friends to vote for you.
With the system we have now the only spot that matters is last...which still gives some incentive to have friends come vote and save you, it hasn't happened yet since this voting system has been implemented.
I am just afraid introducing this new system is going to cause a lot of issues and you are all going to walk away much angrier. The most popular will get the most votes and actually get valid points from it. Suddenly you'll all be checking who votes for who and if they are from the same server you'll be saying they are friends and thats why they are voting for them. Suddenly there will be no more sportmanship. This is the future I am seeing. *cries*
So are we are 2 votes for staying the same and 3 votes to change to the ranking system?

I vote to stay the same, if non models can vote :P, sorry to be difficult I just think it's fine as it is.
