Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~

i'll post byooki and bleizahrs submitted shots in a little bit! I have to mop and scrub the lobby floors tonight at work so a lil busy. If you guys post em first though that's fine! xD

Aww Bleizahr.Keep sharing pics. :3
Thankoo judges. Just wanted to say, on my round 2 I wanted it to be dark. I was going for a Christmas card look, lit up pretty village. In hindsight I needed the Wind up sun. I only just found out how to get it. xD

Sorry for double pose but wanted the tally separate. I'm sorry you feel that way Val.I can understand though, it is frustrating when people criticize without being constructive. When people comment things such as too dark I assume they mean it would be better with wind up sun or daylight. When they just say I like it. But I didn't vote for it. I assume they mean they liked the others more. When they just outright say they don't like it, well that is a pain, tell us why! I hope people do keep voting for you though! I love seeing your stuff. If people do ignore your wish to be voted out, maybe you could avoid the voters comments. Just have a peek at the other pics then relax in here. :3

Why let the faceless masses bother you? It's like any time you put something of your creation in front of the public--some people are going to like it, some people won't, and most people won't be helpful. Appropriate what is constructive and discard what's not. This is entirely subjective. You liked the pictures, that's why you picked them. There's no point in letting others dictate your aesthetic. Hold your head up and walk through the shit. Let the worthless critics mire in their own filth.

Someone give this girl a medal for awesomeness. NAU!Why let the faceless masses bother you? I just hope that this doesn't include the feedback I gave in Round 1, since this would make me pretty sad to be honest.
*rant on*
Nevertheless, I kind of get where you're coming from and I had similar situation with the Screenshots you guys made for Round 2, just that I'm on the side of the voters and my opinion seemed to vastly differ from other voters, which didn't even wrote why they voted for specific screenshots or not.
I'm not going to go to much into detail here to avoid creating a bad vibe... it just seemed to me, that screens that weren't that good overall, still managed to get a ton of votes, just because the character looks cute or the pose was great.
While it is true, that this contest is called "Eorzeas Next Topmodel" and the focus should be on the character when voting, the restrictions within this fun contest are not as harsh as they would be in a real model show, and all of the participants got assignments in which they are to create a specific mood/feel/impression with the scenery/outfit they chose or they had to use and make use of expressions or poses to underline the feel of those pictures.
Considering all these aspects and how they affect the overall impression of the pictures, the voters can't and shouldn't go for the "Ah well, this character looks sooo good, I guess I'll just vote for it" approach, since this only covers one of the aspects that make up those pictures at most (Applies to the judges as well since I get this same feeling from them sometimes).
I personally find it really disrespecting towards the participants that actually had really great ideas or great pictures, that they don't get the recognition for the hard work put into their pictures that they deserve, while other participants, that seem to have not put that much work or thought into their picture, get the most recognition for their "efforts".
*rant off*
I'm probably alone with this kind of opinion so I'll gladly take any kind of enlightment on my little problem on why I feel so diffrently about voting for pictures~ :3
Opinions are one of those things that can vary wildly between people simply because of perspective. Personally? I am an artist with training to recognize things like balance and weight, and the qualities I value in composition may differ from someone with another background. I'm similar to you in that I put composition before everything else, but not everyone does, and at the end of the day, I think that's okay. Part of involving public opinion also means involving different values, and there's no standardization here.
That said, there is a good way to critique, and a bad way, and precious few are familiar with the former. I understand where you're coming from, Val, but I hope you'll take heart and carry on.
On an unrelated note, did anyone else feel HBI wasn't the best for 'scenic' shots? Its paths are all fairly small, and there are a lot of walls and narrow corridors. Being alone and not being able to use minions made this an extremely difficult round for me! Next round, though... Can't wait to see what everyone does with it.
