Alternate screenshots! I was dead set on using the Botanist gear because it kinda fit with the whole, "Where's all the damn trees?!" thing.

Everyone did so well this round o.o if someone didn't drop out of men's I think I'd be losing this one!
@Fate: I actually had a similar idea to yours at first, but I was dead set in trying to have a city in the background too and couldn't make it work. Glad to see someone else made it work!

Wow! everyone did it as if you really are stranded and distressed. I did mine as if I'm fighting for my life survival man mode >.< Everyone else is so much better than mine ; ; I feel like I kinda failed personally this round.

Waaaaah! Round is up! Started writing this yesterday, so I'll finish and post it now XD
I hadn't realized it would be that late, and on a night towards a tuesday too. Still, I'll be there.
A very interesting score board indeed... /think
So blown away by the critique I got from the judges for my Mor Dhona shot. I was pretty insecure about that one, so it made me very happy to see it so well recieved. Thank you all!
Congrats Marik! That was a really creative shot you got =D
I'm sorry to see Miki and L'yhan go. Hope you still post any other shots you've made for the other rounds, and that you keep on screenshotting! ♥
Get well soon, L'yhan!

Looks like some people kicking some arse this round. I love this zone and the color possibilities that are open with it. I want to personally hug Eirwen's shot: Everything from the dried yarzon bones to the disheveled makeup makes it look like hard survival mode. The cactuar earring is a cute touch too; I'm a sucker for details like that. I also really loved Kaiyoko's use of the heat wave. Really adds to that feel of succumbing to the desert.
I tried so many different things this round that my screenshot folder almost looks like I'm cosplaying some of the other shots.
When I started this round I wanted to do desert fishing. It seemed survival savvy and fishing screenshots always turn out awesome. However when I found these ruin thingies along the fishing spot, I kinda wanted to take advantage of some of the pretty desert landscape.
This thing kept interfering with screenshots so I had me the mind to try and kill it and pose with it like I was some sort of game hunter extraordinaire. Unfortunately, dead mobs despawn pretty darned fast in this game and I could never get my pose/expression emote up fast enough to take the shot.
Herp derpin in the desert.

I loved this shot but all the dead space on the opposite side needed something to fill it.
This was the time of day/weather conditions I wanted and the cactuar brings a pop of color that could fill in the other side. Too bad the only time he chose to stand in the right spot and face the right direction was at a sub-optimal time of day. In fact I will probably refrain from using a non-stationary minion again because this one was such a pain in the arse. He ran to and fro and drove me absolutely nuts.
Sitting and waiting for daytime to roll around because my night shots look like butt. I'm afraid I'll never be a Fate or Epsil mastering the midnight lighting. Though that isn't stopping me from trying and experimenting with that silly sun every chance I get.

Thanks for the feedback! Though I seem to always be doing the opposite of what seems to be expected. XD
I went with a night shot on purpose, figured a lot would go for day, and the nights in deserts are just as bad as days but in opposite ways. 120 days can become freezing nights and the nocturnal animals come out, like scorpions, but also better time to travel if you're lost. Heehee, personally I wouldn't wanna be lost in the desert day or night.
If I seem scared/worried then I really can't say much about that critique, because that is the feeling I was going for! Newb explorer, lost in the desert and way over my head... my friends have been killed and I'm fighting for my life to survive. I think I'd be pretty scared, being lost and trying to survive is scary. :3
But yes, thanks for the outlook on the pics, all I can try to do is continue to imporve~!
Outtakes! -thanks to my friends who died for me lol, pretty funny to watch a lvl 50 person in weathered gear stand there and get hit by a 36 mob over the course of a minute before dying. We were all laughing going hurry up mobs faster! lol
I loved this shot, but I thought people wouldn't like that they couldn't see me.
His fist is larger than me! lol
Death shot was too late! lol

I always want to tell each and every one of you why you guys are great so this time I did. These are not critiques; Just why you all rock cause everyone needs some ♥ now and then.
Ladies:
Adeline: Your shots take a humorous and endearing look at the world of Eorzea. I love the ‘didn’t make it’ concept as well as the outfit. I know the hat isn’t a sombrero but it kinda looks like one here.
Eirwen: You seriously nailed it. This scene looks like something out of Indiana Jones and I love all of your composition from the dry bones to every tiny detail of your outfit, jewelry and make-up. You go gorl!
Iris: Sometimes I think we psychically share a brain. All of our shots have been in the same zone or general area. Your shot also utilizes the bright puffy clouds, rolling sands and even some of that gorgeous craquelure in the ground. I love the confused lost look on your face as well as the general color and positioning. Beautiful piece.
Kaiyoko: This is another scene that looks like a shot from a movie. The look of despair and the heat wave effect bring it all together. Truly gorgeous.
Lowena: Desert sunsets are the best! Very pretty shot. You stay perfectly lovely while glaring in the face of heat exhaustion. Love the facial expression and the gladiator sandals especially. A+ shoesieees.
Overlord: It looks like you wandered the desert till you happened upon a tribe of pygmy-lalas and miqos who now worship your fabulousness out in the hot sun. But remember dear Overlord, with great fierceness comes great responsibility.
Rhaya: You always rock girl. You also used one of my favorite parts of the desert where the sand dunes are all high. Really gives that look that the desert goes on forever. The midday sun really gives your shot a lot of great contrasty colors too. It seems like the Keepers of the Moon don’t do so well in the smoldering desert sun and she’s about to give in to the heat.
Sakuraya: While some of us have given in to the heat, you’re still fighting. A true survivor! I like the way the Amalja is looking down at you and the spear crossing the screen is a trippy effect. Keep being strong girl and show them who’s fierce!
Fellas:
Adam: Man you’re kicking ass this round. Great use of costume and location. It’s as if you were out botanizing, but the brutal sun was too much to bare. The disheveled makeup and position of the sun really help set the tone.
Aidan: Can there really be too many pictures of shirtless dudes in this contest? I think not! Keep em coming! This goes for all y’all guys. Marvelous sweeping landscapes, dramatic color fades and SHIRTLESS MUSCLES! /swoon
Epsil: This just slays. You really look like a lost desert castaway that has adapted to this new harsh environment and made it your own. I love the cacti and the coeurl and most of all, the fact your character’s super abs are GLEAMING in the light. If I hadn’t already had my morning cup of coffee, I might have fainted. Keep doing the Twelve’s work good sir.
Fate: First thing I notice about this pic is that gorgeous moonlight! The moon is half submerged in clouds off in the distance and it looks like it’s casting a soft glow over your poor, passed out body. Being fierce is hard work! The next thing I like about this is the way the mesa’s are these shadowy figures on the horizon behind you. Makes the whole scene very dramatic. This is a fantastic shot.
Flare: This is my everything right now! Your shots have this great comedic flare(hur hur pun), and create fun scenes where it feels like a story is unfolding. My head cannon for this shot is that your character is a wealthy entrepreneur out to make a fortune in the desert only to find terror awaiting with a big, wormy, hongray mouth. With this positioning, that dust trail in the distance also kind of looks like it came from the giant worm chasing your nommy lalafel.
Jinx: Bringing so much perfection here, my computer monitor might melt from the utter exquisiteness. Your use of colors and shot set up here are simply glorious. The red in the sunset, your outfit and the chocobo all complement each other. Great lighting and use of the sombrero-ish hat too. This shot really sets a great dusky desert mood too.
Marik: You show that big nasty who’s boss Marik. He ruined many of my shots and I shall take great personal joy in his demise. Your shot makes me wish every round was either a lost in the desert or lost at the beach challenge so we could enjoy moar gorgeous, shirtless, man-honeys! I honestly love everything about your outfit setup from the sandals to the jewelry to the shirtless tattoos. Keep kicking ass!
Ronin: Don’t know about you but I wanna climb out and explore those distant terrain ruins. In fact, that’s what I’m imagining your character is doing: Surveying the landscape to find a way to a shadier horizons. Again, great outfit choice and colors for the gear. Simple but elegant.
