Private rooms and removing FC members

With 2.35 an FC member can now be kicked even if they have purchased a private room. However, they will still lose their 300,000 gil even if they were kicked involuntarily, or accidentally. This is a system that has some potential for abuse. To prevent this, Square should turn private room purchases into a voucher-based system. For 300,000 gil you can purchase a voucher for a private room, and when you use that voucher you get access to your private room. When you need to remove that private room for any reason (FC upgrading to a larger house, member is changing FC's, member is being kicked from FC, etc...), then that voucher is sent back to the player via mogmail. This way the 300,000 gil for the private room is permanently removed from the game economy but the 300,000 gil doesn't simply vanish into nothing if the private room must be removed - the player will receive their voucher back and can use it elsewhere when they choose.

You couldn't be kicked from an FC before 2.35 if you had a private room, which was another problem entirely. Somebody that was a jerk but had a private room was unkickable, you couldn't clear out inactive players, etc... Now though we've traded one issue for another that is just as problematic.

lol also on a side note I think its absolutely dumb that you have until so many days to claim your baggage after getting kicked out...this reminds me too much of "better not unsubscribe for 90 days or we'll delete your characters" back in the ol FFXI days

I personally suspect the current way it is is intentional to help drive additional gil out of the economy. As to be honest, accidental kicks out of a guild really don't happen all too often. And if it does happen, I would personally say as a guildmaster that the 300k gil for replacing the room is on my charge.

Upgrading to a larger house is a rare occurence. It is a major investment for many players involved. And a guild will need to come down to a collective decision in doing this. Not only to keep the members satisfied, but also to help finance such a transfer. So also in that case, a voucher system really isn't needed. And the current process will help keep the economy running and remove gil out of the economy to reduce massive inflation.

And for people who're kicked out for being jerks, truthfully a voucher reward to give them a free pass is the last thing needed in such an occasion. Sometimes people need to learn to play sociably in a guild environment. If they fail in doing that and get kicked for it, there shouldn't be any need for gil or a voucher to be returned to them. Rather they can take is a note to behave better in their next guild and more carefully pick their actions.

I understand what you are saying but ultimately this will just have a chilling effect if this issue isn't addressed in some way. There will be a lot of people who pass up private rooms because they won't want to buy it twice. This will especially effect new players who don't have extra gil floating around. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a significant portion of the player base that chooses not to buy a private room a second time after they lose their first one, or ever buy one at all, and all because there is no guarantee that something out of their control isn't going to come along and deprive them of their investment.

Then those people can wait to get a private house which they keep saying is coming. And really with all the recent things that require a house (chocobo colors/training / gardening) I suspect it will come sooner rather than later.

Really 300k isn't that much in this game. Hell I spent 2mil just power leveling my crafting classes to 50 dropping me to ~200k and I'm back up over a mil already (without taking advantage of the crafting classes) If you want to make 300k you can do that in a day. Hell there is a person in my FC that plays the markets and normally makes 1mil+ a day.

There are very few things that actually require gil in this game having a gil sink that is pure vanity is perfectly fine by me.
