I'd guess the former. I think they intended it to allow Bards to get targets into their sweetspot, but it was getting used more as an instant kill rather than a position control.
Which really doesnt make any sense whatsover because WHM can still do that. Besides while at it they could remove the potency of said skill because at 5y range its never going to reach its full cause thats how brd works in pvp lol.
Fail to see any logic with that nerf and tbh pushing people off the cliff is FUN
PVP was always about adapting and in this case taking advantage of enviroment in a fun manor nothing wrong with that. Its like removing obstacles so you cant LOS to break casting or prevent ranged from hitting you. Not to mention its another interrupt granted not reliable due to slow animation but at least it was there as an option.
Now it turns into this situational knocback that can be negated so easily. Kinda reminds of TBC hunter and the whole deadzone thing its not that bad however with that many slows/stuns/gapclosers sprint theres just many ways to get in close and take a piss @ brd trying to do damage at almost pointblank range.

I have nothing wrong with being knocked off a cliff and often laugh when it occurs but I think this "nerf" is simply intended as a way to help keep your targets within the ideal distance to help maximise your dps and I'm sure if your clever about it you can kite someone with tunnel vision over to a cliff and then BOOM off they go and I have not once played BRD in frontlines so I could be completely wrong about any of what I just said.

I agree, I think that is what was intended. Oh and several times I've had WHMs Fluid Aura me off the ramp. Considering that all other knockback abilities (Glory Slash, Mythril Tempest, Fluid Aura, Aura Blast) are "melee" range this nerf may have occurred due to Yoshi P. encountering a BRD or BRDs sniping people off the ramp before he could get very close to them.I have nothing wrong with being knocked off a cliff and often laugh when it occurs but I think this "nerf" is simply intended as a way to help keep your targets within the ideal distance to help maximise your dps and I'm sure if your clever about it you can kite someone with tunnel vision over to a cliff and then BOOM off they go and I have not once played BRD in frontlines so I could be completely wrong about any of what I just said.
The mnk buff though! Now it's gonna take me even faster to solo a healer
I just don't see the need for the nerf, why would you make a ranged character need to be in melee distance, i would have thought it would be a smaller range knock back before they nerfed the cast range
It's not like bards have a very wide selection of pvp skills as it is

Blast shot was designed as a get off move to create distance between you and a target that got too close. So being able to use it at 25y didnt make sense.
Oh man - those monk changes...this is gonna be funcant wait to get back on.
Playing with Blast shot for such a long time made it be used as more toward blowing people off cliffs instead of for creating distance between the bard and his melee attacker who focuses on him. It's a nice change for monks though, you rarely see any of them in FL very much on the data center I am playing on. Bard still have the advantage of interrupting every cast so it shouldn't affect them too much.
