    This is the reason for the OP's suggestion. Practice Mode would give a player hands on experience.

    I fully support the idea with one addition: you must complete all 5 turns on normal before you can unlock 2nd Coil.

    But there is already a practice mode for Coil, or any other content in the game for that matter, it is called Party Finder. Put it on the list, write on it why you wanna do it and whats it for, then shout it. It's mostly culture and player mentality - practicing using Party Finder is not very common in NA servers. NA players just do not bother to do anything, they can't won't not going to read stuffs, they can't won't not going to do extra research, some are against watching video tutorials or reading some basic info of the mechanics. Anything that require some "efforts" to get better is generally shunned by the majority of NA players. ZERG KILL KILL KILL or it's not going to happen. I know I am generalizing but with DF, you often get the bad ones more so than the good ones. Most of the good dedicated ones would either make a static or ask their FC for help.
