So i am curious, do you never play a single player game that gives you a challenge? So? If someone is paying to play the game they should be able to see everything, why do you think WoW has raidfinder? They made it so casuals could see the content but not get the good gear that regular raiders get. But to say even with a mode that gives nothing should not be allowed? Uh..selfish.
Or do you call the devs and demand an invurnability cheat when you get to a hard part?
Depends on the genre, God of War I play on the hardest difficulty, and most other games I enjoy. Turn based rpgs? No I do not complain and call the companies I just decide this is not for me and quit. If I hate a genre I am not going to put up with the difficulty just to enjoy it. This is why most games come with an easy mode this day, changing market. I am not saying SE is selfish, I am saying players who say it should not be allowed are selfish. If SE does not want to do it because it takes to much time that is fine, but to people denying it because why? Because people should not be able to enjoy the content without reward just cause? Baseless argument on your part.
They don't? They need to be able to do 2 things.
"When green circle appears.. Run forward 5 steps"
and
"When cast bar appears... run 5 paces to the left"
Dps/heals/tank requirements are nil. 20-30 ilvls over what is needed AND 20% echo remove those as a consideration.
Sorry but they are literally doing everything but making it soloable (people can and have 4 manned T5 in ilvl 110 gear)
Then the solution seems simple if the game is too hard as it sits. Please do and spread this ideology to the 4 winds. Would be a lot nicer if they went away instead of crying until the game is soloable (which at this point... excluding ilvl 115 weapons.. it is)

Newer players to MMO games will likely draw from their experiences playing FPS games, GTA, Dragon Age, Skyrim, etc.. and they will evaluate a MMO based on that criteria. But other online games (and offline RPGs) are designed to be picked up, played for maybe 5 months and then abandoned for when the next big game comes along. A Veteran MMO gamer knows that the experience of the game is stretched out over years, and if crafted properly, it leaves players with some of the best gaming experiences to be found anywhere. This is the problem most content is solo and you get your group action from a cross-server queueing tool. This is not like older MMOs where servers developed real communities. It's more like MacDonald's Drive-Thru, where you queue up, do your run, then never meet those people again.
I agree that "easy mode" should be added so that EVERYONE can at least experience the game at its most basic level. Unfortunately Coil V1, Tier 5 is all about game play mechanic, which you should master if you want to beat the boss. Granted I do think they should change the "deadly one hit move" to not instantly kill you but left you with very low HP - this way you could pop in potions or your healer just have to be on top of things. But at least no one die in one hit move - which is rather cheap. They have been doing a pretty good job in catering to the casuals though, and giving us normal Primal, Hard Mode Primal and Extreme Mode. They should definitely do this for Coils as well, but make sure the reward is below the normal and hard mode - since you don't do it for the reward, you do it for "the story".
So? Once again a easy mode hurts no one, the people who want to do coils for the good gear are still going to do it, take my friend for example, he doesn't get to do coil, he cant even get a clear on Garuda EX. He is decent at the game but often times never up to par, he enjoys this game immensely as well as the story. He wants to see coil, see the story, but he cannot because of the difficulty and his lack of skills. So you say he doesn't deserve to see it? Even without a single reward? No that is such a stupid argument, I dont care who you are. The argument that it would take more time to devote to making this mode is a better one with which I personally would agree, but saying someone should not be able to see the story just because they suck? Get out. Me, I love a good challenge, I learn all the fights as soon as they are released, but I am all for players who do not have the time, or just are not good enough to be able to enjoy everything about the game, story wise of course.
Luvbunny-
I agree mechanics should not be changed to much, like I said just as long as it is easier enough for some to see the story I think it would be fine. No reward at all, I am completely behind that idea, you can see the side story but you do not get anything for it. I think plenty of people would run this especially new players who have never played an mmo like my friend. Me? If i get a coil group, I will see more of it that way but for now I am not going to bother trying coil in DF.
I don't see how anyone is against this if there is no reward mechanic other than getting to progress through the story for more casual players before several patches have come and gone, adding even more story for them to catch up on even further down the road. No one would have to do it. It isn't forced on you. Don't have to do Story Mode Coil to get into Normal coil. People who do story mode coil get no advantage over a player who were to run through Normal coil instead. So people who enjoy their challenge still have it without being emasculated by casuals getting coil gear from a lower difficulty.
Can someone seriously give me a legitimate reason against this other than being stubborn and giving the same old rhetoric: 'Cuz these guys got it too easy man. L2P scrubs'
I will agree to Coil story if it offers no drops and no seals because what do I have to lose? Someone getting to see the story? Because that would totally kill the game for me.
As a casual, I feel like a complete and utter jerk jumping into a DF for new content and being new at it. I'm dragging down other folks who may be much more serious about the win, when I'm still in the learning phases. And boy, do I feel like an even bigger jerk if we win with me derping around. Why do I deserve a carry? Simple answer is.. I don't.
Some may argue "Just put up a PF group for learning party." PF has been personally tried several times and has not gone well. An "easy mode" would allow me to learn mechanics with others (cross-server through DF) and everyone would automatically know that it is a learning party with no rewards except knowledge. I do not agree that CS' and story should be carried through to the learning mode. That should be a reward for the normal modes only. And maybe learning mode is only available as you unlock content (example, can't do T9 learning mode until you beat T8 normal mode).
I would definitely use it if it existed.
I don't see the issue either, in fact, I am confused. If there is no gear dropped or any rewards (Maybe a few myth /shrug) I can't see the problem with it. I realize that people think the first coil is easy enough already, but there are more reasons than just: "OMG BAD PLAYER" that would cause people not to be able to complete them.
The only way they could make it easier would be to take away the death barriers, one shot Twisters and one shot Dreadknights. It would be insulting to do this in addition to already having the 20% Echo buff and the ability to overgear the fight. People just need to learn the mechanics.
