I'm certainly welcoming this change, it is more of the materia conversion that bothers me
Let me quote what I posted in another thread:
That's going to be a little troublesome.I am confused with what the patch notes meant here. I am pretty sure part of it meant that IL45-IL69 gears will have lesser chance to convert to Tier IV materia, in conjunction to the revised SB rate/rules to prevent people from wearing IL45-55 gears into ST and dungeons to SB as it caused quite some QQ and complaints in forums.
But the notes seems to also hint that IL70 will no longer give a 100% Tier IV conversion rate, and probably only IL90 guarantees Tier IV.
This would have a hit on the supply of Tier IV materia and cause it likely to rocket even higher.
If true, it might also hint that there might not be Tier V materia in Patch 2.4 (since IL70 guarantees Tier IV, I was expecting IL90 to guarantee Tier V), or IL90 doesn't give 100% Tier V for the new IL110 crafted gears and cause creating and pentamelding IL110 gears extremely expensive than ever.
Hmm dunno, there's also crafter/gatherer gear that can't reach higher than i55, I don't think they would lower the rate of 45-69 gear without increasing the max ilvl for those, though I do agree with your views about i70, that's what they seem to be hinting.
Hmm, good point there. But again, who knows? SE seems to like to torture our Eorzea wallets as history shows
I think we need to wait for those full time spiritbinders with large sampling numbers to see if IL45/IL55 gears are affected.
