The alliance functionality setup is about as half-baked as I was expecting. Can't even use it for Frontlines.

Here's to hoping 2.38 expands more on it to allow partial alliances (and add Frontlines) and that it isn't that far off of an update.

2.35 took essentially 5 weeks (+a couple of days since they don't patch over weekends) to drop after 2.3 so it's reasonable to guess that 2.38 would be the last week of September. The lack of full alliance for FLs is likely due to the potential imbalance issues that could come up (Full healer alliance anyone?). It's something they need to think about a little more than just fully ally queing into PvE raids since there's 48 people other than your own alliance in a FL match.
