I also have colours for all the nations, but have noticed in some spreadsheets others make who use colour coding, that they use different colours to me, so I thought I'd ask the question, what colours come to mind when you think of each nation? For me:
La Noscea = Bright Red. - because of the Maelstrom Banner. Before GCs were introduced back in 1.0 Limsa was blue to me because of the sea.
Thanalan = Yellow-Gold - because of the desert sand. Even though the GC banner is predominantly black, I can't think of them other than some variant of yellow to brown.
Shroud = Forest Green - because of the foliage of trees. The GC banner actually annoys me because yellow = Thanalan.
Coerthas = Light Blue - because of ice/snow. In 1.0 to me, Coerthas was the lavender of the background colour in the Ishgard crest but the change in weather changed the colour for me.
Mor Dhona = Violet-Purple - because of gloom weather effect. In 1.0 It was still purple, but more red-based shades compared to Coerthas' blue-based purples, though often I would group the two together.
I also think of the nations in that order as it places the colours in a rainbow-chromatic order which pleases me. I don’t have strong thought-colours for other places. The Garlean Empire sometimes feels gunmetal grey, sometimes white and other times dried-blood red. Ala Mhigo is also very faint but somewhere in the yellow to ochre range, a little like Thanalan but leaning more to orange hues. I have no thought-colour for Doma or Sharalyan.
So do you associate colours with countries? What colours are the nations to you? Or am I just proving to the world once again how wierd my brain is -.-
